I did the Rust-Oleum Flat Khaki. It's been a few years now. I didn't put on a sealer coat. The plan was temporary until I could get a new tub and do it right... Still haven't got there yet! Kids got in the "financial" way! LoL. It has faded quite a bit.
Looks like crap. You should probably just ship it back to your buddy in Kansas so he can salvage some good sheet metal for his '75. You should also ask your friend out there if he has any decent doors that your buddy back in Kansas could use to make some 1/2 doors for his Land Cruiser! 😂
I haven't had any issues. I used 1.5" spacers. I didn't want to go too much more than that. Torque them to spec and retourque after a few hundred miles.
It's hard to find any wheels over 15" that will have the proper backspace and offset. At least in my searching. Lug nuts don't matter. Just...
Tires are working great. I almost wish I would've gone bigger, but they would probably rub the suspension or steering without different wheels.
I have the stock 4.10s and 4spd transmission. It's pretty low geared, so I still usually start out in 2nd gear when cruising around town. It did help...
Holy crap! I paid $15 each for my wheel cylinders on my '75. I told him to do brakes and power steering first. My uncle has two '84 Toyota parts trucks and I "borrowed" the gearbox and front axle from one to do my power steering and disc brake conversion. I figured he'd be better off rebuilding...
I have a '75 FJ40 and my friend has always admired it and finally bought his own. I was trying to advise him on rebuilding the drum brakes, like I did to mine. I ordered wheel cylinders and a master from Rock Auto. His is a '66 model though, and I can't seem to find brake parts on there for his...
I'll probably be using those on my swap. I'm not trying to make a bunch of money. It was free to me. It would be nice to be able to pay for the axle rebuild kit, new bearings, rotors, calipers, etc with it though.
The Aisin lockouts are worth $100? I have Selectros on my FJ40 now and several people have told me they are junk. I've never had a problem with them, but I will switch them out with the new disc brake knuckles. I just don't have any use for the rest of the axle housing right now and no place...
I've been robbing parts from my uncle's Toyota junkyard. Took the power steering off an '84 for my FJ40 and just brought the front axle home so I can do the disc brake swap. A couple people asked me what I want for it when I'm done. I'm just taking the steering knuckles for the disc brakes, but...
I just did my mini truck power steering conversion a couple weeks ago and wanted to tell everyone who doesn't have p/s why they should do it now.
I've had my Land Cruiser for 5 years now, and if I had to start again, this would be my first mod. I started with brakes, clutch, electrical, etc...
Looks cool. I'm kinda OCD, so I like things to match or be even on both sides. Lol! I think we got screwed with the U.S. models. Not as many options here. Crazy to see how many different options these things came with over different parts of the world.
Cool storage box, hood looks neat, but why twin snorkels? What does two do better than one? And what's with the three windshield wipers? Never seen that...
Looks good. For some reason, I've never experienced the "Cruiser Lean". Even on original springs it sit level. I hope you don't regret not going 4". I debated between the 2.5 and 4 inch lift, and I'm glad I went 4".
You might also check out these Ironman All Country MTs. They were my other option, but they don't come in a 305/70 16. They're made by Hercules Tire and look a lot like the KM2s. Had good reviews from what I found. Great price on them as well.
It's a Smittybilt fold and tumble vinyl bench seat. Caught it on sale for $150 online, but I think they're normally $200+. Winch works great. It will pull anything! I've got about an inch and a half of clearance from the tie end on the drag link all full turn. I've also got a 1 1/4" bolt on...
