Well I’ve been hibernating for years, but life has given me the opportunity to get the beast out and back on the road. I’ve had her stored inside at my shop the last four years. Just got the registration and insurance sorted so I gave her a once over and a new battery. Fired right up so I moved...
I'm on the road from Alabama to Raleigh then home to upstate NY. Hoping to find a transmission for an 88 FJ62 along the way. Let me know if you might have something.
Also willing to Mudship for anyone if there's a need.
Thanks.
Hey I'm still working on the transmission that will only go in reverse. Go the new pan on today and filled the fluid back up.
Next I started the Rodney flush. Ran at 2k rpm for 60 seconds... got about a gallon of black in the bucket. Filled back up with 4 quarts and ran the engine again at...
So I was away from my truck for a year. Just got back a couple of weeks ago. She started up and ran great immediately. No engine issues at all (yet...knock on wood.)
I went to put her in drive and she wouldn't go. the fluid was low but I only need to get it on the trailer to tow it home...
I'm almost done designing my 4' x8' roof rack for the top of my 62. One of the major parts of my design is the antenna mount for my radio. I plan on using a west marine stainless steel mount that I can loosen and rotate 180* in two directions to lower my antenna for the garage or other low...
I'm checking out cruiser on eBay cause a buddy of mine wants one. I came across this picture of the engine. My truck does not have the item I circled in red. What is it?
Thanks
Ok... spare me the "you should have bought OEM." I know that.
Last year the alternator the PO put in the truck died. No biggie. Pulling the alternator only takes me about ten minutes and Autozone had one here the next day. The one I pulled out and the one I replaced it with were both...
This one has me puzzled.
When I start my truck up in the morning, it fires without issues but the battery charge indicator reads 12 volts, and the multi meter confirms the alternator is not sending out current. Then after about 2 minutes, the juice kicks in instantly and the battery goes up...
Just had my state inspection and the mechanic found that my rear axle shafts pull in and out about an inch or so on either side. I don't think it was like this after I put my Aussie Locker in. The C-clips still hold the axles in but the extra play has me concerned.
What do you think?
Well I've been tracking my fuel consumption for about two months now using my gps for more accurate mileage. I've been hovering at about 10.5 mpg with all the miles being my 11 mile commute to work at an average speed of 30 mph.
I just made my first highway trip since I started tracking with...
I posted this in winching and recovery but I don't know if enough people will see it for me to get some advice before I go check this winch out tomorrow.
I found a smoking deal on a Warn 18dc 18,000 lbs winch. Only problem is that it's 24 volts.
Do I have any options for making this...
I found a smoking deal on a local used 18,000 pound Warn winch. Only problem is that it is 24 volts. Is there any way to set something up to run this from my Fj62? Dual batteries are in the works, but I don't know if i can have a standard dual battery set up and still run 24 volts when I want...
Hey. I finally had my list of tune up crap all ready to go, and it turns out CDan is on vacation through the 31st. Who else is good to talk to there? Anyone East coast (closer to me) provide the same discount and service than Dan provides?
Thanks
Why did this drain my battery EDIT: Problem Isolated need new help!
I bought a West Marine 6 switch DC fused distro panel.
I plan on setting it in to me center console set up when it's all said and done so I bought some 8 guage jumper cables and cut off and put terminals on the ends. Ran...
I was finally ready to pull the trigger on all the parts for my dual battery set-up. Using a set up similar to NLXTCY, I had made up my mind I was going with a HR BIC and West Marine fuse panel and 80a breakers, and two Diehard Platinum 880 CCR deep cycle marine batteries.
So here's the...
