Up for sale is my 80 series Toyota Land Cruiser. This would make a perfect base for someone who could afford to put some money into it to make an awesome overland vehicle or such.
Nope, no lockers, sorry. But I did do the pin-7 mod, and added a button to lock the center diff independently...
Oh okay. Thanks for that, I appreciate it! I thought Denso was the only OEM manufacturer of knock sensors for our particular trucks - they're the only ones I'd seen while searching mud. Searching google confirms Matsushita is also a supplier for Toyota.
Right. I probably just didn't word my question correctly the first time... Denso is the OEM supplier of the knock sensors for our trucks. However, the knock sensors I got from my local dealer don't have the "Denso" logo on them like I have seen in other pictures of the part. This makes me...
Replacing my knock sensors, here's what I got from the dealer:
I thought the OEM Denso knock sensors were supposed to say "Denso" on them, like this:
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I searched, but didn't find much of anything. Is there any way at all possible for a bad knock sensor to cause a P0401 code without throwing a P0325 or 330 code?
Back story: completely took off intake manifold to have hot tanked, broke connectors on TVV and rear knock sensor when unplugging...
Yeah, good point. Maybe the internal pressure of the spring isn't enough to hold it in place after thousands of miles of driving. Ugh, makes me so nervous to think of messing with anything around the valvebody!
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, and I'll admit that I haven't dropped my tranny pan to mess with this yet, but wouldn't there be FOUR adjustment settings on the sleeve? In the picture, it looks like you would be able to rotate it to the most raised portion of the sleeve - the plateau...
Looking for one, preferably in good condition, but I have the mechanical ability to rebuild one (if I can find the parts, guess I should check!). I'm in CA. Let me know whatcha' got and how much you want. Thanks!
Jon
With a switch like that, it's either on or off. You'd have to splice a double throw switch in-line with the positive wire, and have separate leads to each color bulb.
So, you'd turn the fog light switch on, then choose white or amber color from your secondary double throw switch, wherever you...
I'm going to guess you'll be fine. The grease will mix inside the knuckle anyway...

Was gonna guess burnt valve, but looks like you've covered that.
I had a situation like that once with my little Honda. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Turned out the intake cam gear was off by one tooth.
I know that's an OHV motor with a timing chain, but it's worth checking out...
Okay, next question - is your throttle valve cable from the tranny hooked up and adjusted to the correct tension?
Have you tried to pull any codes for the transmission?
Also, here's a test from the factory service manual for a '96 - A343F tranny. Should be able to do the same test with the...
Well, Dan at American Toyota would be the best place to get factory parts. He'll give you a mud discount.
If you can happen to find an FJ/FZJ80 in a junk yard, pull the parts off that one.
Cruiserparts.net might have what you need. Search around, you have some options.
Spend awhile beating on it, rotating it as you do. At this point, what have you got to lose? Beat the snot out of it. How heavy is your hammer? That'll make a big difference.
You could also try a pickle fork - even pressure on both sides at once.
Yeah. Well, a little late on the routine part I guess... Supposed to do a re-pack every 60K mi, right? I last did it at 136K, and he's got 231K something mi on him now, so about 35K too late.:hillbilly:
But we're leaving on a long trip on Monday, and I wanted everything buckled up maintenance...
