    Intermittent Electrical Problems

About a week ago I tried starting my 2006 LC and it was completely dead - turned the key and no noise at all, there were a few lights on the dash, one yellow flashing, I should have taken a picture but other things came up. Had it towed home, and the next day it started just fine. Now just...

Show off your Northeast/Midwest Rust-Free Hundy

Thanks for sharing this - great information. So basically spray everywhere using the gun as much as possible, then use cans and graffiti adapters for the hard-to-reach places like inside the frame. Based on the results sounds like a job well done.

Show off your Northeast/Midwest Rust-Free Hundy

Never heard of this company - according to the map on their website, not only are they in New England but all over the world. From the looks of it they do a pretty good job - approximately how much does a yearly service cost?

Show off your Northeast/Midwest Rust-Free Hundy

Gary thanks for the info - I have a 2006 LC with about 100K less millage but a lot more rust. Will definitely follow a protocol similar to your with my next vehicle. So if I understand correctly, you acquired the 2006 from North Carolina two years ago in basically rust-free condition. The...

Show off your Northeast/Midwest Rust-Free Hundy

Baltistyle if I may ask how long have you owned the vehicle and what year is it? In other words, how many winters has it spent in Maryland exposed to snow and salt? Did the previous owner in North Caroline do any rustproofing, or was the vehicle naturally rust proof when you got it?

Show off your Northeast/Midwest Rust-Free Hundy

Sure we've seen lots of pictures of pristine rust-free cars from California, Arizona, and Texas, and lots of rusty, cruddy ones from Pennsylvania, Maine, and Michigan, but here's your chance to show off your rust-free hundy from those regions where winter is cruel and salt is used on the roads...

Bad Results with 555 Ball Joints

FWIW I don't know if it is the quality of the product, or the gentleman who installed it, but my rubber boots on my 555's are twisted in such a way that they will not remain in place covering the metal portion of the ball joint. Question is can I use the ball joints safely without a defective...

Bad Results with 555 Ball Joints

The boots may not be torn but they are twisted in such a way that they don't cover the metal part of the joint, or so it seemed to me. I'll try to twist them back into place later today. If they cannot be twisted back into shape to cover the metal part of the joint, should they be replaced or...

Bad Results with 555 Ball Joints

Replaced my ball joints last year with 555 Senkei since I was using non-OEM lower control arms (my mechanics choice not mine.) Had a look at them a few days ago when changing the oil and filter and it appears both are rusted away with the rubber boot torn. I find it hard to believe both were...

Rust Damage to Frame - Advice Needed

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Changed the oil and filter, tapped a bit of rust on the frame, and discovered rust is like an iceburg - there's a lot more to it than appears on the surface :(

Rust Damage to Frame - Advice Needed

I should have known this was coming after rust took out my muffler, AC line, and gas tank over the last few years, but was always too busy to look into it. This summer for the first time in many years I had the time and ability to do some work in my LC, and here is what I found. While changing...

Center Diff Light Fix - My Experience

well managed to disconnect wire harness - there is a small depression on the gray wire housing - press that down, and you can pull the wire out of the switch. Changed my old switch with the new one and hopefully this should fix problem. To my surprise, old switch (the part that was not exposed...

Center Diff Light Fix - My Experience

Finally getting around to doing this - have the replacement switch and and 27mm wrench, have bent the heat shield for better access, but I'm still having a hard time disconnecting the wire from the old switch attached to the transfer case. Can you just pull the wire connector off the old...

    Clumpy-Clump from front of LC

A few days ago I began hearing a weird noise from the front of my 2006 UZJ100 - sounds almost like a clumpty-clump, clumpty-clump, on and off. It will come and go, usually at slower speeds. It sounds terrible, but I cannot replicate it, it comes and goes on its own, and so far has not affected...

Removal of Roof Rack < MPG

With gas prices being what they are and sure to go up in the future, I'm wondering if it might make sense to remove the roof rack on my 100, and put it on only when I actually need it (usually before a camping trip which involves several hours of packing anyway, so the installation/disassembly...
