    backwards jumper cables

No factory alarm that I know of. Have fuel. Not a compression problem based on level of work starter is doing to crank engine. No spark, no tach, but scan tool shows rpm when cranking. I Clear the code and get the P1300 immediately upon cranking. Guessing the ECM input/output from the...

    backwards jumper cables

I took a section of fusible link material (I have a spool of 12ga. fusible link ) and installed it in place of the previously damaged section.

    backwards jumper cables

I just verified all fuses in both engine compartment and under the dash with a multi-meter reading full continuity on ohms (0.00). Installed a piece of fusible link and verified connection between battery terminal and junction block/connectors through all fusible links.

    backwards jumper cables

CEL light ON, both when key in run position and key in start position with engine cranking. I doubt the butt connector is the problem, but I will install a new fusible link.

    backwards jumper cables

Fuses are all good, verified with test light. Repaired damaged fusible link with butt connector (temporary for diagnostics only). Scan tool shows rpm when cranking, but no tachometer response, and code P1300, which google shows to be an igniter circuit malfunction, or no IGF signal to PCM...

    backwards jumper cables

While I was out of town working, my wife put the jumper cables on my 96 LC backwards. When I got home, I found 5 blown fuses (dome, cigar, ecu, efi, and wiper) and the fusible link burned. Temporarily repaired the fusible link (butt connector), and replaced all fuses. Wiper fuse continued to...

86 FJ60 for sale in Missoula

86 FJ 60, basically stock. 199K, some body rust in left rear fenderwell. Has yakima rack and reciever style hitch. Otherwise good condition. A/C doesn't work, and interior lights don't work, but I think pretty much everything else does. Newer alternator, battery, and recent tune-up plus new...

Parting 87 FJ60 in Missoula, Montana

Interior is brown, and shows 213K hard miles. Some of the panels are good, but the carpet is trashed... seats are rough-ish. Vehicle is still completely assembled, with the exception of the radiator is out (leaker is stored in back), the alternator is out (in use in my current fj60) and the...

Parting 87 FJ60 in Missoula, Montana

Announcing the parting of Betsy! 87 FJ 60, usual rust. Came out of Alaska, had a hard life, now time to put her to rest. I'm keeping the dash pad, the rear driveline (and maybe the front, if it's rebuilt as well) and the console around the heater controls. "Everything else goes!" 213K...

    Ford 3500 lbs in a F150, what'll break?

You'll likely bend the axle housing, which in turn will cause the axle bearings to fail. Of course, at 35mph for 3 miles it might take a while before the damage shows up... good luck, G'dood

    header wrap

The thermal wrap holds the heat in the header... this increases the scavenging effect, but it also shortens the header life by crystallizing the metal of the headers... you'll eventually end up with a hollow tube of header wrap. maybe try a heat shield... good luck G'dood

    1991 Mitsubishi Ignition

Friend's dodge 3.9 V-6 had similar problems... turned out to be the reluctor(?) inside the distributor was intermittently cutting out... which in turn shuts off spark AND fuel. Maybe you have a similar condition? Good luck G'dood

    Lowering kit for XR 400R

The spring perch you guys are describing is the "preload" on the spring. Used for setting up static sag. You do not want to adjust the ride height much with this, as it will cause funky handling. You do want to adjust both ends of the bike the same, to maintain proper steering geometries...

why not? single axle car hauler

If you have proper tongue weight, a single axle trailer pulls just as well as a tandem axle trailer. You won't have the redundancy of a second tire per side, but you also won't have to drag the extra 350+ pounds per axle. I have a 7'x16' open, tandem axle car hauler, that tows like a dream...

    Whats so special???

Well, I got my cruiser a couple of months ago, in an undeniably good trade up on my part. I love driving it... other 60 owners wave (like other bronco owners when I had my 71, or other riders do when I'm on my R1... and occasionally happens if I see another 2nd generation Ford lightning on the...

    Rain gutter sealing solutions???

I worked for a guy who took 15-passenger vans and modified them for transit use. Raised roofs, wheelchair lifts, walk-through doors, etc. We used a lot of sikaflex, in white, grey, and black. Good stuff... paintable, sandable, and sticks like, um, glue. When I built my camper van, I used...

    Cross country expedition planning

You can buy RV style awnings that you can zip sides and fronts to, with screened openable windows and doors. They make them small enough for vans and small pop-up trailers... you might be able to find something that would fit a 60. They aren't cheap, but you might be able to find something at...
