Land Cruiser ‘Land cruiser trim’ vs 6th gen 4R TRDpro. Which would you pick?

So if 4R pricing is same as Tacoma, trim for trim, the 1958 will be basically identically priced with the Limited 4R. I still think the 4R will come out 1-2 grand higher than the Tacoma, all else equal, so then 1958 will undercut the limited…barely. Limited gets you leather seats, bigger screen...

Auto Brake hold. Should be able to turn that off from a button on the dash by the parking brake/shifter. I agree though it’s annoying.

^^my ram 2500 is a power wagon, so yeah same 6.4 Hemi. Can only lock front and rear diffs in 4Lo*, but only ever use those offroad

In a torsen center diff AWD with normal 50/50 bias driving down a straight road, each wheel gets equal torque. It changes the bias as you are driving dynamically when cornering, accelerating hard, etc. the open f / r diffs also change the amount of torque sent to each wheel (open sends more...

This, 100%. Full time AWD / 4WD is just so much better in mixed conditions since you don’t have to think about “hmm is it time to switch to 4WD” , don’t have to take it out of 4WD to park (because drivetrain bind), as you said you don’t get the induced slip when cornering. Added benefit is up...

Well, it’s available in the 4R too (limited, platinum). Only difference is it’s not available with the locking rear diff in 4R trim.

    Just hypothesizing on price, based on 2024 Tacoma price: SR5 2.4T…$44-45k OR 2.4T…$46-47k OR 2.4T-H…$50-51k SPORT 2.4T…$46-47k SPORT 2.4T-H…$50-51k Limited 2.4T-H…$57k Pro 2.4T-H…$63k For reference: LC 1958 2.4T-H…$56k LC 2.4T-H … $62k

i agree the LC is in a weird position now that it’s basically a badge engineered 4Runner. To be honest, they should have just given the US the 4Runner and been like “hey guys it’s a J250 with a different body” The only real things that separates it, far as I can tell: 4R not available with full...

So, with the 6G 4R press release is officially out now. Heres some take-aways from the press release. ... LC 250 & GX550 Picture Thread

Yes I think it puts the LC250 in a weird spot pricing wise the 1958 being likely on the higher end of 4R but with cloth seats. I don’t see the hybrid as a big a benefit as it should/could be since the fuel economy is only marginally better, but probably a $4k option.

    LC 250 & GX550 Picture Thread

100% , really puts the LC in a weird spot. I’m guessing the 4R limited with 2.4T will be about the same price as 1958, TRD OR with hybrid will probably slightly undercut the 1958 as well. TRD Pro/Trailhunter Hybrid will be mid-high 60k im guessing. It really even make sense to have these as...

    LC 250 & GX550 Picture Thread

Well, Forbes dropped the press release early, but they took it down. 6th gen 4Runner has: Wheelbase is 2.4” longer than 5th gen, which puts it at 112.2” wheelbase (same as LC250) Available with the 2.4T and 2.4T-H (same as LC250), same 8-speed transmission Available 2wd (eww), part time 4WD...

    91 Octane Requirement

Turbo engines tend to "prefer" it, the higher octane fuel means it is less likely to have knock/pre-detonation, which is more likely on a turbo engine due to the increased intake air pressure and heat. So many turbo engines require the high octane fuel to prevent this, and prevent having to...

Your Thoughts on the LC 250?

I was very excited when they first announced the new 250. I put a deposit down. My optimism was based on these features: Smaller size/less bloat than outgoing LC200. In fact, I never saw the appeal of the 100 and 200 series...they looked bloated. The 250 looks more reasonably sized, less of a...

    1958 Specs

Damn 17.9 gallon tank and only 23mpg combined…kinda kills it for me…assuming 7/8ths tank is really “usable”, you have a range of between 350 and 400 miles. I was really hoping it would be the 21 gallon tank in the gx550 and 24-25mpg combined, which would give closer to 450 miles At least the...

2024 LC Poll: Round or Rectangular Headlights?

I like them both. I’m on a list for a 1958 with the round, and I think I slightly prefer the round, but the rectangles are nice and potentially have better light output with more projector modules.

    2nd bench seat row

Boxes are far superior to racks, in my experience with both. Versatile: since it’s just an enclosed space, you can put whatever you want in there not just skis, so camping gear whatever in road trips Enclosed: No corrosive road grime on the skis. Easier to load: literally just toss the skis and...

    GX550 Pricing, Specs & LC250 / 4Runner Related Info

True, but at least the base weight will be less without power seats, sunroof, etc yeah, I would only go to LT265/70/18. My PW gets 12mpg average on 35s 🤷

    GX550 Pricing, Specs & LC250 / 4Runner Related Info

I’m on the waitlist for the base 1958 version so that would be cool if it pushes better mpg…but the tires will be one thing I replace immediately with a) better tread like a Falken Wildpeak b) larger size, LT rated. We’ll see though. It’s going to be hard for me to part with my Power Wagon.

    GX550 Pricing, Specs & LC250 / 4Runner Related Info

I agree, since the battery doesn’t protrude down, I would think they would just keep the same fuel tank. Hopefully. TBH my hype on the 250 has come down a lot since they released the Tacoma and GX specs. Disappointing mpg rating on the Tacoma, and the GX is HEAVY. Not sure how much more the...
