Without benefit of warnings, starter began the click/no crank behavior today. New battery, checked grounds, etc.
With the key on, booster pump cycles and shuts off. But there is still a continuous whine/vibration coming from under the intake manifold in the vicinity of the starter, which I'm...
Same here. Box was damaged but the rack looked OK.
Until I went to put the nuts on the inner ties and found the first three threads smeared on the underside.
Ordered a 20mm x 1.5 die off of Amazon and sorted it.
Thanks for the responses. My concern was that in order to remove the shaft I would have to go back and unbolt the rack or raise the engine. Probably better to work with the shaft as I would be less prone to breaking something than if I attacked the steering wheel.
Finally got the rack installed. Everything went pretty much textbook, even to breaking the old T's. Test drove it and steering wheel is about 20 degrees of center to the left. Checked the lock to lock, and I have 1 & 3/4 to the left, and 2 & 1/4 to the right.
Can this be corrected by taking...
Thankful for this wealth of information, Only 2 items are keeping me from removing the rack. One is stupidly easy, the other not so.
Tried prying and poking, but can't get the connector off of the oil pressure sensor.
Second item, steering shaft is frozen to the output shaft of the rack. I...
No need to empty refrigerant to replace Schrader valve.
Mastercool 81490 R134a Valve Core Remover And Installer.
Whoever invented this was pretty damn clever.
1998-2000 All Engines w/ Front & Rear AC ... R134a 39.00 oz. I put in 3 cans which is 36 oz.
Gauges equalized at 110 PSI at 96 degrees Fahrenheit ambient without compressor functioning.
Checked the AC relay by both ohming and applying 12 volts. Checks out fine.
Jumped the relay terminals in the fuse box. Have 12 volts at lock sensor connector.
Clutch will not engage.
Powered the 12v to clutch relay terminal in fuse box by direct hookup to battery. Again have 12 volts at lock...
36 oz total and no change.
If there were a previous compressor lock, would the clutch not work until the code was cleared?
Should I jump the relay? Could use some help on what terminal jumps to what.
No photos, but the process went like this for me:
10mm 3/8" drive hex socket to remove cap at bottom of condenser.
Be careful not to strip threads. I gave it a half turn, then sprayed Fluid Film penetrant on threads. Slowly tightened, then loosened until it came out.
Plastic filter requires...
1999 Cruiser, 265K.
Compressor was replaced because of seal leaks and bearing squeal. Clutch would not engage and AC light flashing.
System was vacuumed, new desiccant bag and filter. Was able to add about 8 oz of 134 without benefit of compressor turing on.
Push the AC button, light comes...
Got all the parts together to replace the old AC compressor (265K);
I am stopped at the first jump.
Got the condenser cap off.
Now I am looking up at a plastic piece which is well stuck in the tube.
How does this come out? Tried needle nose but nothing to grab on to.
Is this part supposed to be...
You were spot on.
Added 10 ounces 134; low pressure rose to 35 psi and high side to 200.
Ice cold air from the vents.
Let it sit for 24 hours, low pressure now down to 15 and high to 150.
So it's got a definite leak. Checked everything that was visible without disassembly and only found oily...
'99 Cruiser was not run for about 10 months. Ac was working fine before but now not cooling.
Static pressure was 55 so added some R134 to bring it up to 95 (ambient is 80 degrees).
Compressor clutch working but does not turn off.
Low pressure with system operating is near zero and high side is...
My steering rack began dripping significantly; would drain the reservoir in 2 days.
Decided to try a stop leak product. Checked out Blue Devil, Lucas, and AT-205.
Went with the 205 because of the large number of favorable reviews on Amazon.
The amount to add is proportionate; I went with 2...
Alternator went dead on my '99 so I picked up a replacement from Advance Auto.
Installed it and it was dead out of the box. It was the Hecho in Mexico version.
Reordered and the replacement was Made in China but overall seemed of much better quality.
That one is working fine.
However I now have...
Got an e-mail response from Chris at alfaparts.net confirming that they have the rocker, along with a photo.
Looks good to me. i will try to post the photo once I figure out the process.
