Working solution for EGR Bypass / Removal on 1FZE OBD II engines?

There are soooo many threads when searching about the bypass or removal of the EGR system in the 80-series tech. In addition, it seems to me most are for the '94 & earlier OBD I models, which aren't germane to the '97 model like mine, especially per the ECU factors that need to be addressed...

80 series Roof Console for sunroof equipped rigs

Very cool! I'd be interested in one of those! Having a sunroof is cool, but I've always wanted to do a full width console solution.

Anyone else with an FZJ 80-series also resolved their "shudder" / misfire problem also find this as a resolution path? My '97 has been plagued with this for so long that my truck as sat in the driveway idle forever. Do you think you could've diagnosed/repaired this issue without having a...

Need to track down a shop in Manassas

I guys, I've been searching for a local NoVa shop that'll do ultrasonic cleaning and flow testing of fuel injectors. Every place I've called that advertises "fuel injection cleaning" turns out to just do the "while installed" flush treatments. I got a lead that there was a place in Manassas...

4-hole Bosch DRI fuel injectors from OsideTiger - Upgrade option?

LT, I'm curious as to why did you stay away from injectors needing the EV1 harness adapters? Any particular reason, or just due to a lack of access to an EV1-OEM harness adapter?

4-hole Bosch DRI fuel injectors from OsideTiger - Upgrade option?

If you guys haven't done so, I'd recommend takin a moment to watch Osidetiger's video (at the bottom of my OP). It was illuminating in terms of understanding how variations in the injector's fuel stream can impact effective atomization. I believe these Bosch DRI 4-hole injectors are able to...

LandTank, by "these"...are you referring to the WRX blue injectors? Or Osidetiger's Bosch DRI injectors?

4-hole Bosch DRI fuel injectors from OsideTiger - Upgrade option?

I have been trying to locate a local shop that'll do fuel injector cleaning ( done off engine in a proper cleaning/testing rig....still no joy). One thing I noticed was that after having the injectors cleaned and tested, by most accounts there's usually the probability of having to replace one...

    69 FJ40 found in RI ..... worthwhile?

Hi fellas. Found this listing while up here vacationing in Rhode Island. Was curious what you guys thought about whether its a deal or not. From the pics, the inside of the tub looks good, but the exterior bottom edges obviously have some rust damage. Wondering how it could/should be...

True, you have a good point. However, won't that nullify the OEM Sub? Surprisingly enough, it's actually putting out a decent performance at this time.

To be on the safe side, I think i may just swing by Best Buy and grab a new Metra 70-8112 harness, to rule out a faulty connection.

Ok, so the OEM harness 15-pin adapter (that routes to the OEM amp) seen in the pics has been identified: Metra # 70-8112 Here is the pinout of the 15 pin at the OEM harness: 1: AMP 2: ILL+ 3: ACC 4: +B 5: MUTE 6: FL 7: FR 8: ANT 9: LL- 10: (normally unused) 11: GND...

Slim, Good suggestion. I checked that first. The door speaker's connectors were tight. No play or other ground-potential scenarios could be reproduced. Does anyone have the pin-out for the OEM harness plug (the main one that is seen in the posted pics). I just wanted to confirm my references...

Great responses, fellas. Thanks for all the info. A few additional factors to also consider: 1) The audible engine ground noise was constant, and did not increase or decrease based on the AVIC's volume settting. It increased significantly when the headlights were turned on. On top of that...

That being said, taking a closer look at the connections between the HU connector and the harness adapter...I see that there are two cut wires and a curious/questionable connection found: A) the HU's Blue/White connector wire was initially crimped to both the solid Blue & the Blue/White from...

Dunno. Didn't do the install...this is how I found it the first time removing the AVIC-X930BT to search for the cause for the occasional bad ground/engine hum & loss of the front left speaker. So, first thing I wanted to do was confirm if this location should even have been used for a ground...

The attached pic shows the location where a stereo head unit is being grounded this bar runs along the bottom of the double-DIN opening in. 1993 80-series. Now, i was already in search of a bad ground condition that was causing a loud engine noise hum, & the left front speaker to be barely...

Has anyone installed a spark plug non-fouler in their 1FZ-FE?

IdahoDoug, I've replaced the wires & distributor cap before without any significant change. I'm gonna give the anti-fouler a shot to see how it runs, but I'm pretty sure I'll be tearing off the intake manifold and pulling the injectors to be tested. I don't know of any local shops in Northern...
