I've got a crank/no start condition. Here's the run down:
Fresh valve job, fresh carb rebuild, new cap/rotor/plugs/wires.
When it cranks, it sounds like it's only catching on one cylinder. I pulled each plug wire one by one and sure enough, when I pulled number 3, it went to a "no catch"...
Look at this:
That's my number 2 exhaust valve.
If anyone has been able to follow my many threads, I've been putting this off for a long time, and I finally have the spare dollars to fix this puppy up. The head is going to the machine shop next week and I have some headers in the mail...
Hey guys,
It's been a little while since I've posted, and it's been almost as long since my 60 has been my daily driver. Long story short, I bought a 95 Cummins, it burned down in a forest fire, and now I gotta get the cruiser running again before the snow hits.
It is already low on...
So I've got a gimpy cylinder. From what I've figured so far it's the rings. I had grand plans for a 12ht or fire breathing 2fe and so on... but reality hit a couple days ago. The dollars just aren't there for it.
Anyways, I've heard of doing something called a "dry rebuild" or...
So I got pissed at my door beeper today... I busted out the BFH and went to town:bang:
No, I'm kidding. But I did get kinda mad at it, and I was just sitting there waiting for a friend to show up, so I busted out my tool set. Chased it down to a lil black relay box behind the passenger...
Heya guys,
Im hopin to get a lil advice on v8s. Im considering swapping one into my 60, but Im pretty new to v8s so I need to know what Im looking for. I want to run a carb, and Im not trying to start that debate again. I also know I want a 4 bolt main. So from what I can gather I want a 86 or...
i know this should really go in the recommend a mechanic thread... ill post up my findings there afterwards
anyways, i need a good shop in the boulder, co area, hopefully one that has experience with the 2f motor, that can help me out with some engine machining (balancing and head work and...
so ive got plans to repair whatever it is thats causing my gimpy number 2 cylinder (its down on compression), but i wont be able to do the work til this summer (probably july). its my daily driver, so in the mean time... will i hurt it by driving it?
i do have a truck that i can borrow to...
ive been planning a 2fe build with a cam (as per some write ups that ive seen here) to be done at the same time as i fix a compression issue (still to be determined what the exact issue there is...), but its lookin like cash will be coming up short.
my questions is: will i see an improvement...
Hi there everybody,
So I guess it’s my turn for a ROTM. Now I don’t have the gnarliest or most immaculate cruiser out there, but I do have a close personal history very much intertwined with my baby, so my write up will be mostly stories about my travels and experiences with my 60. Enjoy!
My...
its been idling poorly, so i ran the gamut of tune ups to no avail... did a compression test
145 30 122 130 136 145
dripped some oil into the number 2 spark plug hole, went up to 70...
whats yalls thinkin about this?
so last weekend i was out at a bike race in boulder city, nv and spotted 2 pretty cool 60s at the race... anyone on here? one was sprung over, sounded like maybe a v8, chopped quarters and armor. looked like the guy was takin pictures or video or something. the other was brown, aftermarket rear...
so ive got an idea for a bumper and i wanna know if im just over engineering or if it sounds decent
its to mount a warn m8000 to my fj60, and is based largely on 2mbbs popular design, but...
the 1 inch plate will mount inside the frame channels instead of outside, and the winch will mount...
im workin on a bumper design for my fj60 and im wonderin about a few things where it comes to mounting my m8000
first of all, is a feet foward mount strong? in my head it seems stronger than feet down, but i dunno...
also, since the front wall of the bumper will be the mounting point, itll...
i did some searching and couldnt find anything really addressing this...
i managed to dent my muffler, and right now my exhaust is dumping right into my drivers rear spring bushing, which aint good (it melted it:rolleyes:).
my idea is to move the muffler under the skidplate, where my cat...
2 quick questions, 1985 fj60, desmogged but otherwise stock
would replacing the intake/exhaust gasket make the truck idle higher? it idled right around 600 before, and now its about 1000... maybe it fixed a small leak or something?
also i need to replace my valve cover gasket... do i need to...
i guess the title asks the question, but...
i was under the truck making a mental list of things to work on, grabbed the rear driveshaft and wiggled it to check on the u joints, and got a wobble... narrowed it down to the pinion shaft where if goes into the rear dif.
i guess it may be a dumb...
title pretty much says it, but here goes... 1985 fj60 2f
just drove to california for the holidays from colorado, nice drive no problems there, but 2 things started happening once i got here. the first is that it seems like it really doesnt wanna idle until it gets warm. i have to constantly...
ive been lookin around at every option for a swap in my 60... literally everything... and i really like the idea of new motors cause ill know exactly how its been taken care of and driven its entire life, unlike a used diesel motor that i could drop in or something
so i came across this GM...
sorry for the inexperience, but tell me where my logic is wrong here...
would it be possible to turbo the 2f, run it like that for a while, then switch to a 2h and run the same turbo on the diesel motor?
i figure theyre similar sized engines with similar powerbands, so theyd use a similar...
