Stock radiator and running normal temps, never saw any increase in engine temp. I do live in a cool climate though. My first iteration was without an intercooler and under hood temps and IAT's got pretty high so I added the intercooler and that really brought it back down.
I'd say if you're...
3 years ago and it's doing great, but sorry I never made a build thread. I run 6 lbs of boost, intercooled, a boost reference FPR, and a Split Second 02 sensor enricher. I've had plans to go to Megasquirt but never followed through, it's just running so good I never felt the need. Performance is...
For the bog, check if the egr valve is stuck open. My 62 had a horrible bog when I got it and I found the egr valve stuck wide open. I desmogged mine and it ran great after that.
Looks good. Are you going to program the repeaters along your route into your radio before you leave? I've got a FT 2900 in my 62 but was recently given an ft 897 and might install that and an HF antenna and mabe do some POTA activations. 73's de kd8voa
I have an Innovate wideband gauge and it's showing lean in open loop, elsewhere too, but I don't think it's right because it's showing 16-17:1 afr and if I was actually running that lean it'd be pinging like a can full of marbles, and it's not knocking at all and running really well. I just...
I'm normally in the 60 series section but there's no one running a turbo or megasquirt so I'm wondering if any of you guys are.
A year and a half ago I built a turbo system for the 3fe in my 62. I've put several thousand miles on it and it's been great. For fueling I've tried a rising rate...
Longest winter ever I swear, and to make matters worse May 1 - 2 we got another 30" of snow. Fortunately it melted quick. Anyways, I finally got my cruiser out a couple days ago. First thing was to change out the piece of crap EMUSA wastegate( had holes in the diaphragm) for a high quality Tial...
There's been a couple times in at my shop where I've seen rear brake shoes ride up on a ridge in the drum, then when brakes are applied the shoes drop off the ridge and cause the pedal to drop. Not very common but I have seen it happen
I do a fair amount of restoration type work and I've used a lot of Corroseal over the years with good results. I prefer the milky white type of rust converters. Permatex rust treatment is pretty good and you can buy it at Napa.
Not a fan of POR 15, it does work but only in the right...
I believe most are filled with glycerine, not sure of the freezing point, would have to Google that, but I'm sure it's well below that of water. My cruiser gets parked for the winter so that's not a concern for me. Good to hear that it's ok to leave it there
I just put it in recently and for now I'm leaving it in, but I'm in the process of tuning a turbo setup on my 3FE. Once I'm all done I may remove it but honestly I like being able to see fuel pressure at a glance, then again if that thing leaked it's a really bad spot to dump fuel.
I would use both, run it into the radiator first, that'll bring it down to coolant temp then run to the external and that'll bring temps down further. This is how I run mine and it's very efficient
I would love to put it on a dyno, but I live in a pretty remote area and the closest one is probably 8 hours away.
I've been reading the microsquirt manual and I think this is the way I'm going to go.
