I see 13/14 MPG, mostly highway, with the 3FE. I feel like it's a good running 3FE (although I can't compare it to any other 3FEs). 31x10.5R15 tires.
Our stock FZJ80 might edge it out slightly in mileage, but burns more oil doing it (valve seals, I think).
I can believe it that the 1FZ-FE...
There's no way that a stock rig should be getting 8 or 9 MPG just because it has LT stock tires that are inflated to P tire pressure.
I'm seeing 14 MPG, consistently, with 265/75R16 (a hair taller, a hair narrower) LT E-rated tires. I am sure they're not anywhere near 45 PSI.
Now it might make...
Ouch!
Did you make any typos there? 35PSI and 36PSI?
Curious what's causing this. I wonder if the #5 value is much higher if you add some oil to it during testing.
Thanks for sharing more information! Hopefully the shorter hose works out okay for me. If not, I'll try out the new one you mentioned.
Might you be able to provide information on those clamps? The sizes used and how many you needed. They look nice!
Thank you all for the replies. Definitely some conflicting information here.
I'm just shocked that I got a reading of over full, all the way to a dry stick when warm. I'm pretty convinced that it is low.
I'll check the level again and top it off. I wonder if it's related to cold weather or...
1FZ has been flashing the oil light intermittently.
After it first started, I checked the oil level. I believe it was cold after sitting for a day or so. Oil level was completely full, maybe over full slightly.
More oil light flashing goes by...
Couple hundred miles later, I check and nothing...
I recall the A343 does have a taller first gear, which may be a factor for some. I don't think it's a huge difference, but something. Already pretty tall if you try to descend a hill in 4 low without the brakes.
Never had A343, so can't say much. I will say the A442 shifts smoothly compared to...
I think I cracked my radiator by getting the mix wrong with too much distilled water (had to top it off in the parking lot). Had a hard freeze here. Not sure what's on it, but it's aluminium.
I'd like to point out that Liland also makes a 3 row radiator, the 1469AA3R.
Marco, I'm a little...
I totally understand wanting one of these as a family rig. They are some of the nicest built vehicles I've ever had the pleasure to drive or work on.
Your particular one... might be a good one to not think of as a forever car. Might be able to find a low/no rust one with a blown motor and swap...
Hi everyone,
Left rear window was fine for a while, but was pushed down and now can't go back up. It has a lot of slop, where I can pick up the window and pull it up, but it droops down. Motor doesn't do much of anything.
There seem to be a few things that commonly go out on these. I've read...
I managed to sort out the parking brake and put it back together. Little tedious, but not too bad.
Brakes feel really nice now! But not surprising there's an improvement given how nasty some of the rotors were.
Rear left:
(Note the well oiled parking brake surface.)
Rear right:
Not...
I also vote for the terminals. What's with the ground and those two extra cables coming off it?
Is that OEM? I don't have it on mine so assume it's not, but really I don't know for sure.
Great information on the Monstaliner. It does sound like for a liner job, it's the way to go. These are daily drivers (we try to have some redundancy, especially with where we live).
That is interesting. There's a blue/grey '91 and a white '93. Do you think that both have been repainted?
The...
Thank you all for the replies! Will definitely do the bedding process with these rotors once I get it back together. I've heard of the Terrain Tamer seals. I looked into ordering them in the US and think I got a lead on it, but never ordered them.
I finished all but the rear right rotor. Rear...
I'm also curious about this. I think there's also a "Sierra Antifreeze."
One report of it being okay is good to hear, but more reports of a positive outcome would be nice before making such an attempt.
I did a couple of the bedding practices, but definitely not perfectly.
What is the cause from not driving it enough? We do lots of highway driving and only a little bit in the city, so they don't get worked all that much.
