If everything checks out is it a bad temperature gauge?

Sometimes it is not the obvious. I ended up removing the gauge and it looked fine so I put some dielectric grease on the bolts securing it to the housing. Hooked it back up thinking I would find a new gauge to replace it later and it is now working! Sometimes it’s just a bad connection.

If everything checks out is it a bad temperature gauge?

75 fj40 with original 2f motor. Temperature gauge has never worked since I got it and decided to track down the problem. First thing I did was pull out the FSM. I went through each test and the only the first failed. No light came on. The rest passed. Also checked continuity from barrel on...

Two piece speedometer cable to a single cable

Funny ending to a long and tortuous fix. First the one piece is a direct plug and play. Second, if the plastic drive gear tines are worn (even in one spot) it will not work. And last......I replaced the tenths of mile odometer ring with a disk from the speed marker seen in photo 1. These...

Two piece speedometer cable to a single cable

I hooked up a drill and speedometer works when I spin it counter clockwise. If this is right then it may be the drive gear needs replaced.

Two piece speedometer cable to a single cable

75 fj40. I replaced my two piece speedometer cable with a one piece speedometer cable and didn’t notice at first that the speed marker reverses the spin on the cable. Is there a fix for this that I’m missing?

Dizzy 180 degres out...move plugs wires or must remove and rephase?

I struggled with the same problem for a week. Checked TDC, Checked Compression of Valve #1, Problem ended up being, as I seated the distributor it rotated and was one tooth off. Something that small made it struggle to start and backfire.

    Does anyone recognize this part?

I have looked for a week, and it took all of seven minutes once I posted it. Much appreciated.

    Does anyone recognize this part?

75 fj40 is almost done but I cannot remember where this goes. And with all the photos taken I can’t seem to find it either. Thanks for the help.

    Is my dizzy seated?

75 2F engine. Pertronix electric dissy. The O-ring is about 1/16 below the edge you can see. When I put the old one back in it sits at the same place.

    Is my dizzy seated?

Is it normal to have 1/8 inch space left? This is as far as it will go. Same size as the one it’s replacing. I turned the motor over as it was being seated and it felt like it dropped into place. Appreciate all the advice.

Ok, timing is on the BB. I hooked up vacuum gauge to the manifold where the brake booster hose connects and it idles at 13.
