    BJ alternator jury-rig questions...

    bjalt... ya the alternator is from an '82. i took off the cover and the brushes and regulator are attached...the top is a large silver (aluminum) piece with a phillips head holding it to the body of the alternator. pretty sure its the regulated type.

    um, ah, yes. makes sense. haynes just said to pull it out. thats that. after a few hours of pulling i had some unkind words for haynes. i think birfield has FSM or is that not okay to mention on this board?

    ah no w that i like...a bit simpler...the counter shaft is the one directly under the input shaft? i suppose that it has a gear that is engaging and causing this difficulty?

    basically pop out all four bearings, shift the main assembly up and out and i'll have room to pull the input shaft out? (i'm swapping shafts so i can use a 3b instead of the 2f engine....

    um...is haynes lying to me? the area in the manual for the 4 speed 'cruiser transmission says to "pull out the input shaft" i built a tool to hold the input shaft so i could use a slide hammer. the bearing and shaft pulls out about 1/2" than stops. i also built a tool that locks onto the groove...

    perfect chev 350 with adapter for FJ40

    i have installed a chev 350 in my 71 fj40...i plan to use the truck everyday for work and the 350 is WAY more than i need. it has about 20 hours on it and is just breaking in. extremely powerful (about 300hp) i'd like to sell or trade the engine for a 3B and a 5-spd trans. heres the engine...
