    FJ60 Condenser question

Does anyone know where to find a replacement condenser these days? I cannot find anything listed by Denso anymore which is what others have used as I have pored through this forum. I have a 7/1986 Fj60.

    rear wiring harness connector trouble

Thanks for the reply. That is what I was thinking but was not willing to take the next step without a nudge. I will order some up and get going.

    rear wiring harness connector trouble

Anyone have any experience fixing a melted / corroded wiring harness connector? I was chasing down some trouble with my rear taillights on my FJ60 and fixed some problems then found more. The blue connector from the main harness to the rear harness has a corroded / melted pin and I need to...

Question on Restoration of a FJ60?

I'm currently in the middle of "tuning" my 60 up proper as well. I elected to get the car purring first and so fortunately found an outstanding mechanic and started working on exhaust leaks etc. That turned into $7K real quick after lots of hemming and hawing. I just couldn't stomach giving up...

    newbie installing gears

OK. Me and the five year old took the rear end apart this weekend. I now have the third member sitting on the floor wondering whether I should tackle it or not. What concerns me is how can you get the bearings off (as well as on) multiple times if need be without completely buggering them...

    new 60 = new questions

To get the handles off you just have to slide a cloth under the interface between the handle and the panel (from the side with the knob on it) and the snap ring will release then you can get the handle off. I had to do it many times to service a sticky window regulator on my first 60.

Recommend a Cruiser Mechanic in your area

I too would love to have access to a dedicated landcruiser mechanic anywhere in Washington. The closest places I know of are in Portland, OR.

    newbie installing gears

Thanks for all the advice. I'm making a list of tools I need to buy so I can try to start tackling the axles (rebuild). For the gears I guess I'll try to pull the third's sometime in the next several weeks - unfortunately I'm getting a lot of heat about "time spent on the truck" from the wife...

    newbie installing gears

OK I think I have a spanner tool that will work, I found a dial caliper and magnetic base for pretty reasonable price and I'm sure I can find a measuring torque wrench. As for the bearing splitter - assuming I WILL need to pull the pinion bearing off several times - do i need to buy the SST or...

    newbie installing gears

Anybody have any thoughts on a novice mechanic installing new diff gears? I bought a pair of 4.11's w/install kits from SOR (they are Motive Gears) but can't find anyone I trust to install them - I am in Wenatchee, WA. I have heard of some good shops in Portland OR but that is 8 hrs away so I...

    SOR ring and pinion gears

Anybody have any thoughts on the ring and pinion gears SOR sells? I just ordered a pair of 4.11 gears but after scanning threads here I see a lot of recs for 'precision' and 'yukon' gears - I can't tell what SOR sells. I thought I would tackle the knuckle rebuild and wheel bearings at the...
