I have 2 other vehicles registered in NJ that only received transferable registrations and not titles because of the age. Sort of like how they treat trailers. I guess they do it differently now.
It's an NJ car, last registered in 1989. Cars in NJ that are over 20 years old don't have titles, only transferable registrations. I got the car from a towing company who removed the truck from the property of a farmer. He apparently had used it to plow his driveway for the last 20 years which...
This is a 1987 FJ60. It has about 135k on the odo. This is a parts car, the frame is toast. As for parts, the only item I removed from it is power steering pump and air pump, I think everything else is there. $1,100. Located in Tunkhannock, PA.
Originally bought to provide parts for an FJ40...
This is a 1970 FJ40 with an F engine and three speed manual. I had bought it a few years ago as potentially a project vehicle but have moved on to other things. It's quite original and complete but it's a NJ car so it's rusty (floors shot). I don't have a title for it, it was supposedly kept on...
I know this is an old thread but I wanted to note that I just went through this exact same experience. Went through 2 Bosal Y pipes, both were nowhere near fitting. I returned both to Rock Auto. Rock Auto treated me well, allowed me to return the exhaust and provided store credit (as I was...
I've used speed bleeders on several vehicles - went through it recently when I changed calipers on my 80 and re-used the speed bleeders I had put in there. I find I get the best results using the 2 person method and speed bleeders (as you don't need to be real careful about when you shut the...
I've been thinking about those tri-fuel kits also. Here's a webpage that goes through the hookup of those generators and has a link to a podcast that discusses the pro's and con's of the setup. The guy on there recommended generatorsales.com.
The only jack I've ever had problems with was an American Foundry & Forge aluminum "race jack" model. It wasn't cheap so I had it repaired by the local hydraulics place. They were a dealer for AFF jacks and couldn't get parts for it and had to take parts from a floor model. Still doesn't work...
Wish I had seen this too - my Die Hard Gold failed a few days ago in a Walmart parking lot and I ended up with a Maxx/Johnson Controls. Those Platinums are nice.
I can give you my 2 cents on a few exhaust parts I've replaced. I replaced the muffler a year or two ago with a Bosal unit. I was able to make it fit but one of the hangers was off and I had to make a bracket. It won't last as long as the OEM.
I also had the front downpipe/cat unit replaced...
This a 1996 FZJ80 that has low miles, is in mint condition, never used off road. I have owned it about 4 years. Great truck, solid as a rock.
Miles: 102k
Color: Black
Price: $9500
Features: Factory lockers, OME stock height springs, OME shocks and steering damper, CDL switch, Slee sliders...
Looking to buy another OBDII scan tool. I have an Innova/Equus at another location but need something to check out codes. Tried Advance and Pep Boys for a loaner but they don't do loaners in this area (NJ). Thinking about a basic OTC 3109 or Actron 9575. I know HF do a basic unit also.
I...
Makita is the best I've owned (compared to Bosch, Milwaukee) aside from Festool. Festool is really good but it's hard to justify the price for the same basic functionality.
OEM is great except for the price and availability. I don't know about you but my local dealers don't stock anything, charge a nice premium on top of list, you still have to wait 3 days for the order and you have to drive to pick it up by 5pm when the parts dept closes.
Anyway, go for a few...
This is a little non-specific but do you often find that recommended change intervals on air filters are wasteful? Particularly on older trucks that don't get used all that much, the filters really should last years. Even in regularly used vehicles, I find that the filters have little or no...
A follow up and conclusion on this question. Took the truck to a muffler shop and, as a suspected, it was not possible to weld the hangers back on. Too rusted. Their suggestion was to weld 2 universal hangers on and then bolt them on to the frame somewhere. I didn't like the idea of drilling...
The rubber blocks are still intact, the spot where the hangers attach to the muffler/flange is rusted through. There's not enough good metal at the end of the hanger to tack weld it back - it could be ground a bit shorter to get to good metal I suppose.
