air filters (1 Viewer)

This is a little non-specific but do you often find that recommended change intervals on air filters are wasteful? Particularly on older trucks that don't get used all that much, the filters really should last years. Even in regularly used vehicles, I find that the filters have little or no dirt on them at the end of the year.

I was looking at a video produced by Kubota and they recommend not changing the filters until it's very dirty. Even then, it would just be tapped clean. Is there some significant difference between a "donaldson" type filter and a pancake filter? Why don't they use donaldson filters on light duty trucks?
