Very cool, thank you.
I'm thinking of just whipping up something on the lathe to extend the shift shaft. I figure a piece of round stock bored to fit over the shaft with a set-screw to grab the flat would work, then have a flat at the other end where my shifter would engage. A replacement for...
After a year or two of ignoring my 40, I'm finally buttoning up my 4-speed trans swap and just realized my 3-speed t-case linkage doesn't work. It looks like the front-drive shift lever (11) ends up in the wrong place, and the high-low shift rod (6) is the wrong shape.
Do I need all 4-speed...
I have a feeling the majority of these bends aren't "factory" :p
Does anyone know if this should be completely straight? Or are some of these bends as designed?
Thank you, I'll let you know. I think the PO replaced a bad coil with another bad coil, but I've got another spare kicking around I need to find and test then we'll see where we land.
No spark from the coil, and the Pertronix does looks new. I didn't see any fuses blown but I'll check it again. The black/yellow wire at the coil does get +12 when the you hit the starter, so I expect a spark. I also checked the coil+resistor and am seeing just over 3ohms, which is what the...
I just bought a 77' which has a new Pertronix installed but there's no spark. Just to be sure there aren't other issues I've pulled the distributor and the gear is in good shape, and the cap, rotor, and coil are all new. I've been searching online but haven't confirmed if this is wired correctly...
I'd like to replace mine too, as somehow it became bent and mangled and was grinding away at the wheel when I turn it. Hopefully with your picture I can bend mine back into shape since there doesn't seem to be an available replacement part.
Can anyone else provide pictures from other angles? I...
The weird thing is, I have a feeling mine was already upside-down (I didn't take pictures) because of how the hose has relaxed. I had to fight it a bit to twist it right side up. I'll check that again.
Thanks everyone, that's a lot of great info (and pics!). I have no idea where my trans came from, but I have a feeling I have a 60 trans and fork and a 40 bellhousing (I've had to source parts from all over). I think I'll just space it and go for now.
I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures of my slave cylinder setup before tearing everything apart. I've got the H42 installed on my 72' FJ40 (it already has a 2F), and you can see from the first picture things aren't lining up well. The other pictures are gratuitous. Any thoughts on a slave...
I'm in the Salt Lake City - Utah area, and a trade would be perfect for me.
I like this option the best.
This would be my second choice, and I'm already set up for making new lines if I end up going this route.
There's a second issue I forgot to mention. The clutch fork can only go through the passenger side of this housing, and my slave cylinder is definitely not on the passenger side. I'm not sure if that's worth trying to deal with.
