I paid 10.5k in 2006. Was a good deal then. I looked around for months to find the right one.
I just hope I do not have to wholesale it and watch it sent off to Africa. Nope. I am not that desperate. :hhmm:

I am looking to get as much as I can, within reason of course. I was taught to take care of my toys so that they last longer. :wrench: More depressing when you lose them though . . .

Oil Leak
If it is the rear main, you are looking at pulling the transmission. Time consuming but doable if you have the right equipment. Price-wise for a shop to do it, anything over $750 is too much unless you are in a very high rent district.
If it is the pan arch on the upper oil pan it...
FZJ80s at Auction
I watched a '97 with 75k, very clean (clean knuckles, no leaks, paint & body in great shape, interior in great shape), no lockers go through the auction at Manheim, PA for $11.5K. It is currently on a boat to Africa. I figure it would go for about $13.5K retail.
Did all four studs come out? When I removed my clutch, two studs remained which kept the pulley from coming off. I held the pulley flush to the pump and threaded the other two studs in, then mounted the new clutch and fan.
If all the studs came out, your best bet may be to loosen the adjuster...
I checked the charge on my AC before the season started. Pressures were okay. Problems occurred when it was hot (85+). At lower outside temps it blows very cold, but when hotter it was pretty weak.
From what I can tell the clutch is tunable. It can be cracked opened. It is made by Shimahide. Looked almost exactly like the original. I looked specifically for a Japanese made clutch and not one manufactured in Taiwan. Time will tell whether it is as good as OEM.
Did not know that only...
I was getting warm with the AC on when sitting in traffic, so I decided to go ahead and replace the original fan clutch. Found a Japanese made clutch for about half the cost of OEM.
I forgot to think about the rust factor, given that mine is a Mid-Atlantic cruiser. I was able to get the...
I paid 10.5K for my locked '96 with 128,000 on the clock in April 2006. Since it resided originally in the rust best then the Mid Atlantic, the exhaust had to be redone from the down pipe on back (~$500 with two cats and two Flowmaster Huspower two mufflers - one used as the resonator)...
I almost have the no. 1 oil pan off. Been bleeding pretty heavily from the rear pan arch. Been taking my time so I don't mess anything up.
The lower oil pan was a pain to get off. Used heat and a utility knife blade to loosen up the old fipg. Took a bit of time but it finally gave way...
No thanks.
The vehicle runs fine, does not have a current inspection, but passed mechanical two years ago when i registered it. It can be driven every day.
The rust is not so bad that you cannot drive it every day. Mostly an eye sore and will only get worse without some help. The floors are...
I did my homework before asking any questions here, but that is because I spent two years on Pirate4X4. I never had my a$$ handed to me over there, but you learn quickly to seach before asking.
