Advice needed on my AHC system.

Let me add that my mechanic had never done the conversion before either. But again, it's not a difficult task. It's essentially replacing struts. Breeze for any mechanic. Just be sure they cap any lines they cut so you don't have ACH fluid leaking everywhere afterwards.

Advice needed on my AHC system.

They will need to remove the ACH struts (all 4) but you don't need to remove the globes. My mechanic left accumulators so they wouldn't leak all over the place. He capped the ACH lines that were cut to remove the struts. The OEM (or aftermarket like OME) suspension set up is 2 springs and 2...

Advice needed on my AHC system.

I ended up replacing my suspension with OEM Toyota landcruiser suspension in March 2017,I think. Paid about $600 for parts and $400 for labor plus a 4 wheel alignment. Haven’t looked back. I didn’t have the time or funds to troubleshoot and throw money at it. The ride is totally fine, smooth...

DIY: Replacing heater hose pipe T's *important*

I'm short on time so I can't read through all the posts at the moment. But I just want to confirm that there are 2 sets of heater hoses on my 2001 LX470? My indy mechanic replaced 3 heater hoses and T fitting a few months back after he called me saying it was leaking during an oil change. I...

Ok, LC 100's are tough to find. How hard is it, to make a 470 have Toyota LC badges?

In SoCal, both the LX and LC are sought after and well priced, well cared examples go in a flash. But for some reason, in SoCal, the Land Cruiser go for more $$$. I'm a Lexus guy and I prefer the LX. I don't feel like people where I live judge one way or the other regarding driving a Lexus vs...

1999 LX470 Very Bouncy Ride and Front Drops to Low Height Position

I'll definitely report back if the LX TBs don't hold up. My guy that did the work worked at Toyota for years and then Lexus before opening his own shop...for whatever that's worth. He said he checked the part numbers for the LX & LC and they both default to the same part no. now...so I don't...

1999 LX470 Very Bouncy Ride and Front Drops to Low Height Position

Yes, all that was needed was 4 shocks and rear springs. He left the globes installed so they didn't leak all over the damn place. He got the shocks out and capped the lines that went to those (if anyone wants them for cheap in SoCal, PM me...they are only couple years old). As far as the ACH...

1999 LX470 Very Bouncy Ride and Front Drops to Low Height Position

I had a similar symptom with my 2001 LX very bouncy ride. I won't go into all the details, you can see my thread if you're interested. But my globes (front ones at least) were shot. There was some debate about what the cause of my bouncy ride was but in the end, with the very generous help of...

    2006 LX470 - 137k miles - What price to pay?

Not much mentioned about the AHC system in the responses...that would be the biggest thing concerning you as these trucks are pretty much bullet proof but the AHC system can be troublesome if the fluid was contaminated. How is it operating? How does the suspension feel? I bought my 2001 in...

    Wanted  LC Torsion Bars (SoCal)

Looking for a set of LC torsion bars or comparable aftermarket set that will fit my 01 LX. Prefer SoCal for local pick up but willing to pay for shipping if price is right. Thanks

Looked at a '99 LC today

Similar situation with my 2001. The PO had owned it since new but didn't think the timing belt had been done. In fact, insisted that it didn't have a timing belt but had a timing chain that didn't need to be changed. I had it done with in the first couple weeks for piece of mind.

Lexus service history webpage doesn't recognize LX vins?

Yes, make sure you're entering the correct number. I've checked countless Lexus vehicles on that website an sometimes run into problems but it's always because I've entered the vin incorrectly.

Advice needed on my AHC system.

I've been pm'ing with PADDO about my issue. I just wanted to upload a video of the random dropping and raising back up of the front end. This happens every time I start the car and randomly at stop lights and what not.

Advice needed on my AHC system.

I appreciate it PabloCruise. The 2 shops that I've used in SD for this AHC issue are both former Lexus employees that started their own shops. The shop that I had bleed the system all worked for a local Lexus dealer for years until the dealer changed ownership and they left and started their...

Advice needed on my AHC system.

I appreciate the suggestion. I'm sure I could find some globes for less. I'm not too concerned with finding the absolute cheapest solution, just one that will last. I LOVE my LX and I've only had it 3 months. But I'm a bit panicked that the previous owners spent over $5k redoing the...

Advice needed on my AHC system.

Just an update: My plan is just to remove the AHC system completely and install cruiser shocks/springs. I don't have the funds or time to fiddle with it unfortunately. At the very least I'd be looking at replacing the front accumulators and that's at least a $1200 job including fluid if I did...

Advice needed on my AHC system.

I'm not entirely sure that's why all 4 shocks were changed, but that's my assumption. And I've heard that's what inexperience with this system will do as far as diagnosing. I will conduct this test next week and post the results here. Thank you! It sounds like the front accumulators were in...

Advice needed on my AHC system.

I purchased my 2001 LX470 from the original owners just over 2 months ago. They maintained it at a local Lexus dealer in SoCal and also sometimes used an independent shop towards the last few years of ownership (they told me they used the indy because they felt they were getting ripped off by...

Buying 06 LX470 with minimal service history ?

Most important/biggest job is the timing belt and that's been done. I picked my 2001 up last month from the original owner and it had 139k on it and these folks were well off, put upwards of $20k into it with repairs and maintenance. The husband swore up and down that "these things don't need...
