In the Toyota LC Scheduled Maintenance Guide it only says inspect Front and Rear differential oil till 120K miles 144 months. Only says replace in the section if you are towing. Does it mean if you bought the LC new you are not changing diff oil for 12 years? does it last so long without towing...
Hypoid Gears: where the pinion engages below the center line of the ring gear.
This setup creates more forces than when the gear engages near the center line etc. hence you need Hypoid Oil. This is a good enough explanation for me.
I saw Hypoid 80W-90 at Toyota on my recent visit when i did a transmission flush. It is a bit expensive $19/Gallon but available and just need 5 Gallon approx. so planning to stay with it.
I think it is also API GL-5 compliant so does the Mobile 1 75W-90.
Guys,
I have a 04 LC FSM and below is what I extracted from it. Doing the diff and transfer case oil service in few days. Hopefully torque specs are good for 06 as well. But let me know.
Transfer Case Protector - 3 Bolts - Torque: 28 N·m
75W-90 (Mobile 1 Synthetic)
1.3 Liters - 1.4 US Qts...
Hi All,
I dont do off-roading and also have not used DIFF LOCK feature much. My 4WD gear setting is also on H as normal, never changed. Toyota changed diff and transfer case oil about 5 years ago. Might do it again this year.
Few weeks back i locked the diff while in parking and started...
Got it. Yes i found another video and seems like this end originally had a double sided tape. Either that needs to slide it in now or take it off and rivet back in again.
How critical is the secondary molding that covers the rivets? do u know?
Hi Guys,
I am referring to #2 in the link below.

Mine came off for some reason and snapped the rack cover on the front. How is it attached to the body? is this with glue or some screw...
Guys, pan has been leaking through gasket. I bought the sealer through Toyota.
What is the best way to seal? Put the pan on and hand tight the screws only and leave it for 24 hours for seal to set and then torque to specs?
Would appreciate guidance.
Have hit a problem, the rear carpet trim piece screw holders and latch hooks are broken. Not sure how that happened. It is not holding down. Will try some epoxy tonight to get them tightened.
Ended up getting a new 3rd row carpet. Old one was very good condition with no serious stains but just wasn’t match with the front new one. Had to get this final piece in guys.
Selling grey 100 series 2006 land cruiser 3rd row seat carpet.
it is in very good condition with no serious stains. Recently cleaned. Can look even better with steam clean I believe. All insulation is in perfect condition.
see pics. $300 shipped.
carpet is not as bad as the front but has some stains. Let’s see how it comes out after a steam clean or it will be another $600!!! Keeping fingers crossed.
Final stretch, cleaned up 3rd row. Waiting for dynamat. Also ended up putting a new socket with cap for the 12v outlet. Gray one was hard to find to match the trim.
This is the first thing I did after buying my LC 6 years ago. Just buy the part from LX470 like mentioned in the thread. Very easy and worth doing it.
be patient with few bolts while working though.
