Hi Guys,

I am referring to #2 in the link below.

Mine came off for some reason and snapped the rack cover on the front. How is it attached to the body? is this with glue or some screw that came loose? I had to buy a new cover now as well.

That looks like it was possibly installed wrong by whomever did the last windshield on your truck. Up there it is glued down. Along the windshield edge, there should be 4 rivets holding it in (underneath a secondary plastic molding that covers the rivets).

Not uncommon for this to be done hastily, poorly, or just plain wrong by an auto glass shop. You may need to take a deeper look into what things look like underneath, as it's a common area for rust to start when stuff like this happens.

Search some threads on windshield replacement in here and you'll find more info.

Got it. Yes i found another video and seems like this end originally had a double sided tape. Either that needs to slide it in now or take it off and rivet back in again.

How critical is the secondary molding that covers the rivets? do u know?

I think they need to be hand formed to fit the curvature prior to installing. Maybe the installer forgot that step.

There is a metal backbone in side molding. Often times installers bent the backbone during removal. In the case bent backbone, it's better to replace with new OEM molding.

Installer also use black poly to glue down molding, which is a bad practice. If black ploy in rian gutter where the double sided tape adheres to body. It must be removed with care. Taking care to not damage body paint and seam seal, while removing the glue.

The inner molding covering rivets. IMHO: Keeps air and water under pressure, like produced at 70 MPH, from entering rivets center hole and gives a finish look. These holes in center of rivets, are not water tight. But so small, it's usual not issue.
