To @cruisermatt and the folks using his mounts-
I've read here these mounts were specifically laid out for a 4l60, and that "it's easier" to use a 4l60.
What are the additional complications to be aware of if using Matt's mounts with a 4l80 or 6l80? I've read that those two are more work but...
More like plus
$2600 adapter kit
$500-3000 standalone harness with sensors and vat/ initial tune.
$1200 accessory drive with PS pump and vacuum delete.
$1200 cam kit so the gov motors POS doesn't explode from the EPA "features".
And another $1000 tuning and 20 hours back and forth with a tuner...
Cool cool - does it feel snappy - no lag, etc?
Kinda stuck between this and just ram mounting a tablet with a simple Bluetooth HU.
Edit- it seems you already answered this early. Thanks for the info!
Is the wiring a PITA in the atoto units?
Specifically reverse/park, etc?
Sounds like the Kenwood and pioneers have some tricky liability nanny stuff and I'd prefer to avoid splicing in reverse etc if avoidable.
Yeah I suspect mine is in the lower side just based on handling, but I need to get more things refreshed to know for sure (tie rod ends, etc). If so a lower coil is easy and cheap.
Will see 🤷♂️
Cool- I should just listen to Dave and lit some trim packers under the rear colls, then call it a day.
I'm on 3" arms but haven't got a reading yet either. Waiting to get a few others things buttoned up.
Where'd y'all order these from?
I'm currently on icon coils - a bit front high and saggy in the back.
It's fine and I could just add trim packers to level it, but these have my interest.
How much lift did you end up with @Surfdc?
Got caster readings with your Delta arms?
I'm considering a simple cheaper 5.3 with 6l80 (or an 8/10 speed with the Torfab kit).
I see almost zero reason to regear with the 6/8/10 speed transmissions. I want my interstate RPM low, and the super short 1st means I'll be in a much better place than stock, regardless of ring/pinion.
Here check this out Doing a hydro-boost - what else should I replace while I'm in there? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/doing-a-hydro-boost-what-else-should-i-replace-while-im-in-there.1302276/#post-14768408
A while ago somebody posted that the bigger Lexus 430 (I think maybe) booster bolted up easily.
I'll see if I can find it as that might be an actual upgrade.
But dude, don't skimp on the stuff that slows you down.
Dude just sell the truck for 5k or so.
Would make a perfect junkyard ls swap candidate - someone could have an excellent rig for a four figure in investment.
I'm not sure the value is really there yet for gen 5s anyhow. The L8T is really the only one worth making the effort on IMO. By the time you fab up mounts, delete the DFM fluster cluckery and mail off your harness to get pruned and flashed for 2k you coulda been way ahead on a 3/4.
All that...
