It doesn't have cruise control but I stick to around 2850RPMS, which is right around 70mph. Personally the gears seem a little deep to me, it has plenty of power to go faster but I don't like winding the motor up that high for long periods of time.
I had a 1994 FZJ80 for over 10 years, loved it but decided I wanted a 1HDT powered one. Finding one with a manual transmission was pretty difficult but well worth it. Its a 1993 HDJ81, i've had it almost 2 years now with zero issues. Changed out the fluids and keep it full of gas. Its far more...
Went up to Central City to cruise up and down the river. The water was pretty much dried up. Had a good time exploring and enjoying the sand and sun though.
The FZJ80 I had was a automatic while the HDJ81 is a manual. I'm sure that's a power drain but still the HDJ81 just seems like 2x the vehicle power wise.
I've had the following
3 80 series
1 FJ60
1 FJ62
1 FJ40
1 BJ73
The 1HDT powered 80 is by far the best. Loads of power, capable, quiet and does great on fuel. The 3FE powered 62 and 80 just aren't much fun to me. Way to slow to be enjoyable. I put a turbo on the BJ73, still pretty slow but its...
Hopefully someone can give me some advice on this. I have a 1992 FJ80 with the 3FE. It has always ran perfect for me the last 5 years or so I’ve had it. A few months ago I went on a side hill and it died out on me. I finally got it to start but from then on it will sometimes start right up and...
I've got a fellow Land Cruiser friend who is a for sure on Sunday. Potentially another guy who might be interested. For sure 2 of us who will be there.
My head cracked last year, I didn't know there was a difference and used the non layered one. Lasted about a month. Ended up having to take it all apart and do it again. I was not happy but on a positive note I'm pretty good at replacing a 3B head gasket now.
We for sure need to meet up again. I finally got the head fixed on my BJ73. Two times are a charm, at least I am good at taking a head on and off now. I have been in Costa Rica the last 2+ weeks. The amount of Landcruisers, Landrovers, Hilux trucks is crazy. Most 4x4's have a much needed snorkel.
