I could not get it to stay running with the carb that came with it.
I have a JimC rebuild I put on it.
Fired right up with no choke but I have a misfire at idle that's pretty bad.
All of the plugs are firing. New. Newish Toyota plug...
Never had any boil issues. Started in Colorado when the weather was cool.
Jason @Ozark cruiser says there is a filter up in the wheel well that can get clogged and toss this code.
I hate problems. The way i eliminate problems is to take off all old s*** and replace it with new s***.
Monkeying with old s*** is not my thing.
I have never messed with points either.

To get the full pull out of the heads it's best to have a cam and bigger pistons but I ran one on my blue 60 on top of a stock 2F and it was great.
More compression as he shaves them down a bit as well.
I got the exhaust back on. Fired it up and it won't idle and it's running super fat.
I can give it 1/2 choke and it runs fine.

I have no idea where this F head gasket came from but I had a proper 2F one here and it's on.

Thanks to @FJ60Cam for letting me pluck a Hi Po head out of your stash. I was able to hit the gym, my favorite restaurant Las Tortugas for a $50 lunch and grab the head drive home and stab it by 6:30. 💪

It's hard to compare apples to apples with 40s. Most I swap have some s*** combo of springs and shackles.
I always measure before and after though.
One thing I have noticed. So far none I've installed have any lean.
Nice work, Al. This review helps alot of people. A well sorted and slightly modernized 40 is a thing of beauty, it just takes some time, patience, a plan and some money to get there.
And the EGR tube has been cut and welded close- not pretty but will be OK with some "perfume" treatment.
