Here are the spacers i made from 1/4" stock I bought from Tractor Supply, and I clocked the winch clutch so it's on top. I will also need to trim the bumper so rope doesnt rub. Alternatives are to get an offset fairlead, or drill new holes. Trimming seems easiest and equally as effective.

Well, from what I recall seeing yesterday it was a good inch or so too much, but I pretty quickly decided I didnt want it sitting back there anyway, if nothing else, just to keep it away from water and mud.

My control box does not clear, so I'll have to move it.. I'm running the same VR 12 winch. 🤷‍♂️

i'm installing this exact same setup now - same bumper and winch, with a few differences: I used 1/2" metal stock and made some spacers that span the full vertical height of the face plate so as to give the winch a solid frame to pull against. I will clock the motor so the clutch release is on...

well, both of mine are broken... so id be replacing both at the same time. Can anyone else confirm this? Don't want to spend $400+ and find they dont fit..

yea i was noticing some movement as i was tapping them out. New plan, im going to bolt down to existing 3rd row seat holes - bigger bolt, i imagine rated for bigger load because they are for seats. nothing is really rusty underneath, so should be fine. Made some progress on it today. couple of notes based on replies above: I used 1/2" for bottom piece only, 3/4" for sides and top got cheapish run-of-the-mill from Lowes - $50 for 3/4 and $25 for 1/2" sheets drilled pilot holes and used decking screws, for the most part didnt split anything too...

Bump. Would love to see some pics of folks rear cargo storage/drawer/sleeping platform setups. I have searched but coming up short, or maybe my search technique is off. I cant find a compilation of rear storage builds. So, whatcha got? Post a pic!

Or we're just too cheap to buy a full rear bumper :). Every time I thought about buying a rear bumper for my 80, I ended up putting the 3k or so toward another cruiser! I'll probably end up building something evenutally, or maybe get a DIY labs kit.
