Looks like a Saginaw box that someone has welded a mounting plate to the threaded holes facing up are the proper mounts
The pitman arm looks like a modded bronco f150 one
Will suck if it starts leaking because you won't be able to just get a replacement
I'd ? The quality of the weld to cast...
@RWBeringer4x4
I would replace that mangled timing cover before finishing the front of the engine maybe replace timing chain while balancer and cover is off
The factory louvers are tapered the back one is wider than the front one
I should have measured them first lol
If a 460 big block doesn't need extra airflow your diesel should be fine
@RWBeringer4x4 my 40 had a 327 no holes in heads originally
I held off doing the powersteering because of the same problem you are having mounting the pump
Two years ago I had enough of hearding it around on 38s and swapped in this motor
One option is to get a power steering pump
Out of a jeep...
Guess this won't help you being as how you don't have bolt holes I your heads I
But might give an idea I think the v8 has to be offset
1in to the right to clear the stock steering box
When this had the ram horn exhausts in it and stock box there was maybe 3/8 to 1/2 in clearance
Just hope it's a honest shop and they know what a carb and points are and don't spend a day looking for the scan port
Unfortunately many of today's mechanics are parts replacers and lack basic diagnostic skills
