Basically the inconsistency around whether it would cause vibration issues. I didn’t find anything definitive though. Also, if I find an 80 rear axle, I may still go that way but only if I find one in a junkyard between now and then.
Also, I like the availability difference. If you look up...
I went through hours of reading on this subject because I'm building a 4runner on an 80 chassis. I settled on using a 98+ Isuzu Rodeo Dana 44. They're not a regular 44 and actually use a Dana 60 size pinion with a thick cut gear set. I'd argue it will be at least as strong as a stock 80 rear...
I towed a C10 from Arkansas to Colorado with my 99 and it was fine. I wouldn't want to do it all the time, but it worked. I was able to keep it around 60 mph and could go faster but was trying to keep the RPM's as low as I could. I bought a scan gauge to monitor trans temps as I was really...
2F manifold set (air/exhaust) off of 60 series. No cracks on either one and the flapper moves perfectly on the exhaust. $200 plus shipping
I'll text some pics if interested. DM me and I'll give you my number.
It's not too bad. I think it took me less than an hour.
Yes, I ordered mine online and picked it up at Stevenson in Lakewood:

I might be jumping the gun here but just wanted to pass on some info...
The throttle body from Toyota is around $500 new and includes the miscellaneous sensors everyone is talking about. If you can swing it, you may consider just replacing the whole unit instead of messing with each item...
Do you have a scanner to check the code that's forcing the check engine light? It may be one of the sensors on the throttle body and it's causing the ECM to go into limp mode. This was happening on my 1999 every winter until I replaced the throttle body. A scanner will tell you which sensor...
Yeah, I'm really digging the gold as well. You're right, an ARB would have complimented the overall aesthetic better but I don't hate the tube bumpers.
Not necessarily....
I spent more in maintenance on my 100 in 3 years of ownership than I have in 7 years of owning the 80. And keep in mind that when I bought my 100, the master cylinder, timing belt, heater t's and brakes had all been freshly done.
I had to replace:
1. Steering rack - $500...
X2 on all of this. My 92 with a 3fe, 35's on stock gearing would do 80+ all day long on flat spots but even the slightest grade would slow it WAAAYYY down. I've driven my buddies 97 quite a bit over the last year with 10% reduction gears in the transfer case and it was doable but felt quite a...
Where is your fuel line located in relation to your exhaust? I know you said you're running a stock fuel line setup, but are you running your exhaust inboard of the frame? If so, I'd imagine you'd be really close to the passenger side exhaust and if your issues are when you're pushing it hard...
