Dollar for dollar, mile for mile, winter or summer, road or offroad, etc -- there are no new hybrids or SUVs in the 25K range that I would prefer to my LX :-)

Whew! Update: The shop is pretty confident the compressor is OK, so they are going to check the + and - pressure to make sure things are good. And at this point, there is no indication of blockage in the system. Thanks Dan

The individual logic behind a decision to purchase a new hybrid vehicle does not work for me. They are efficient, but a new hybrid vehicle will cost at least 25K (plus the cost to replace batteries, the energy to make the new car, etc.). That's 10-15K more than a solid LC or LX. Its a 97 LX, not '94, in mid-Michigan. I'm pretty sure the belts and installation are OK. The shop was recommended from multiple sources. Crap -- I hope we didn't put in the wrong compressor (94 vs 97)?

According to the claims, I could improve my 0 to 60 time to about 8.5 seconds. Cool.

I have a new clutch and compressor, but the clutch/coil is now burning up after a few minutes of driving with the AC on. Voltage appears to be OK at 14.5. Wire on the first new clutch was stripped bare after rubbing against the pulley, so we thought it was a short that caused the problem...
