I just sold my 1976 fj40 last month and I been very sad about it, so I saw this on Thursday night at 9PM text the guy and was heading his way at at 4am I live in Las Vegas I just got home with the 1981 fj40 it was what I have been looking...
I checked this truck out in person, and it’s a bit over priced for condition. The owner is a legitimate seller, however he seems to be on the fence of keeping or selling as he wants a swap for a newer low mileage Tacoma or T4R.
As far as the 40...
Easier than that: Just open driver's door on the mustard yellow one. On the door jamb below the dash should be an aluminum tag that will tell the month and year of manufacture. From the pics, it's about 1978. Assuming the hood is original...
Wow, really cool to finally see some more photos of this mystery rig. It has been listed and re-listed countless times in the past 6 months with the same subset of bad photos. Thanks for sharing these. Almost makes me regret not going to see it...
I went and checked this one out. The gap is because the top is not bolted down. It is just laying on top of the windshield which has a section for a bikini top. It appears to be in pretty good shape. The rear has been repainted at some point...
HA! You boys out west in your dry climates all a-scairt of a little rust ... I drove my '81 40 with more rust than that. Fine, the tub (well, the part that wasn't made out of the hood of a Honda and aluminum roof flashing, among other assorted...
Messaged with the owner a little this evening. He sent more photos. It really looks pretty decent....minimal rust I could see. Looks fairly complete and original. However, the engine's a 2f out of a newer rig...
Not mine. I saw this on Craigslist. Wrong color and wrong year for me, but thought some one might be interested. Looks fairly clean...

My .02 is, 15k isn’t crazy these days. This is complete (-engine and title, both easily addressed) and O.G. beautiful rig! Anything under 10k is a pipe dream. Whoever buys it better damn well keep it as is!
This rig plus a Mosley Cop Motor, little trans magic from Valley Hybrids, a good buff, and a touch of Love and money would make a heck of a 40!
Wish it was closer and yes 67’ is a good vintage! Just saying!!
1970 FJ40, 289 Mustang V8, 3 Spd on floor. Idaho ranch vehicle so not used on salted roads, and very clean and sound. Followed me home yesterday (against the wife's protesting, and started to get it down into workable pieces. First time the top...
I'm now marking this thread as sold, as I've bought a rig!
1972, won it on Bring A Trailer being sold by Mohr Imports out of Monterey, CA. I flew in to pick it up, and drove it back home 380 miles via every scenic backroad I could find. Truck...
