Owning a FJ40 has been a bucket list item of mine for a Loooong time. Recently I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to purchase a 75 FJ40 from a family friend who restored it and was finally ready to sell it. It's mostly stock with an original power train. It has a few aftermarket items such as a Weber carb and aftermarket air cleaner.

I plan on swapping the current wheels out to OEM units/hub caps and Installing an original air cleaner unit as well. I'll post pics here as progress happens.

Looking forward to both learning and sharing info with the group.

Have followed other builds of yours on different platforms and am always impressed. Can’t wait to follow along with this one as well. Cheers 🍻

I'll be trying to keep this one mostly stock. It's going to be fun! I di have a few more mods planned for the Van though.

If you would like to go back to the original style air cleaner you will probably need an original Aisin carburetor. Ask if the seller might still have it.

I did find an adapter that let's you run the Weber carb with the stock air cleaner, here's a link: Click Here

I do have the original carb and may consider rebuilding it and re-installing it again if the Weber doesnt work out.

It came with the original air filter assy as well but someone cut off the intake housing...uggg. I need to locate a replacement lower air cleaner assy.

This weekend I want to reroute the fuel line and get it off the valve cover.

My 1970 has a bracket that attaches on left bolt of thermostat housing to the head that supports a rigid fuel line.

Are you the same “Hodakaguy” from ADVrider? I followed your Vanagon, Sprinter and Taco builds. If your FJ40 is like any of those, it will be awesome.

Welcome @Hodakaguy . My 1975 FJ40 has a Weber carb on it and uses the stock oval valve cover mounted air cleaner. Should you need any detailed pics, let me know
