A complete goober is going to fix his brakes

I ordered all oem stuff. I figure the original stuff lasted nearly 150k miles so it’s worth it. Ordered it all from bell Lexus and saved a good chunk compared to buying from the Toyota dealer.

A complete goober is going to fix his brakes

I should mention that I’m changing them due to being soaked with gear oil due to a bad rear axle seal.

A complete goober is going to fix his brakes

I’ll be replacing my rear brake pads, rotors, and parking brake shoes later this month so I’m looking for advice on tools and techniques to make it easier for someone who hasn’t done this in close to 20 years and the last time I messed with brake shoes was on a 62 Chevy pickup. @Washingtontaco would the tone ring also need to be replaced or does it just get off center due to the bearing and cause the code?

Builds SouthTxGX’s question and build thread

Well it’s already been ordered and it was cheap enough that if it’s not the problem it won’t be a big deal. I was already planning to order a couple hub assemblies from one of the vendors anyway for spares so I’ll just have to do it sooner.

Don’t you put that bad juju on me Washingtontaco lol. Didn’t feel like dropping another $300 just yet, but if the wire doesn’t fix it a new hub assembly is next.

Builds SouthTxGX’s question and build thread

Cleaned up everything underneath to try and pinpoint where the unknown fluid was coming from and now everything is dry and I haven’t seen anything leak since. I’m guessing the magnesium chloride that was in the dirt was pulling moisture from the air and the fact that I tried washing some of it...
