The welds on this radiator look pretty good to me (I'm no expert). It bolted RIGHT in, hoses lined up perfectly. It is so rare that one can find a 55 specific substantial part of such high quality that I had to have it and don't mind paying more...
Ratchet strap fairy made a delivery this afternoon, I now have enough for three of my friends to use their low range on the next pig party.
Thank you ratchet strap fairy!
Since I'm currently working on some front wheel bearing maintenance now, it might be good to do the diffs, trans and tcase fluids. Objectively that stuff is not super important when just getting it running, but now that its got some miles, not...
Its far from Bob M quality but the passenger side floorboard no longer has a quick escape hatch. Took a good chunk of the day but its more metal than was there previously.
Also added the first of many sheets of the sound deadening stuff...
So, to follow up on using the tailgate window rack seal I post on the previous page.
My track had rusted in half
As lots of us do, (not on pigeatin’s caliber) I have collected backup parts for when original parts fail. I was lucky enough to...
I assume Africa. No conflict in Australia or for that matter Japan in the 70’s.
Although the only conflict I was aware of in the 70’s was not crashing my pig while driving through LA on the way to a weekend the Anza-Borrego Desert while my...
Drove down to Spector Off Road yesterday to pick up an ignition key cylinder as mine had been acting up during PP. Want to have one on hand in case of full failure. Took pics a 55 that I admire.
We “hit” Washington today so 49 down but will spend some time in Washington before heading up once the wife gets back. Had to make a quick trip to Spokane airport and get the wife back to Hawaii for a week to get a few work things and caretaker...
Those girls with you are awesome! Growing up our kids went everywhere with us. My brother couldn’t drive 3 hours without fear of creating issues with his daughters.
Think of the memories they will have for the rest of their lives!
So cool!
Finally got the oil changed tonight. Figured 12k was enough on one go. Have added 2 quarts on the entire trip so happy with the amount it’s burning. She’s good now for the last leg
Anyone who has a 55 should have a Bowfin rack on it. A few reasons, it's a very well made roof rack, it's solid and versatile, and perhaps the most important it's likely to be the most substantial part on an old 55 and you need the rack to help...
The racks have a ~12” slot the bars can be moved back and forth in, you can also remove middle bars (but not ends). Have one of these on my 100 and love it, great racks & company. The t-bolts are easier to use than those nutcerts for adding...
Was digging through old pics and lookee here. I took these back in the summer of 2016, before I even knew what a Pig was, much less an FJ55. Fordyce Trail, just after Committee crossing. Owner has to be in here, but even if not, they are pig photos.
Spent the last couple days in east glacier fishing in two medicine and the middle fork of flathead. Some kayaking around the lakes got to see moose and sheep. Then took road to the sun over to sleet glacier for a nice morning drive. Was a blast...
Started out as a foggy early morning leaving badlands, cleared up as we climbed out of rapid city heading to Rushmore. Then spent the day on two lane roads into North Dakota and over to Montana Ended up at a small town heritage festival in Baker...
