So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

Michelin seems to be allergic to any tire aspect over 70%. :-(

About to do this this week. They're never fun but why so bad on the 80?

Respectfully, I heartedly disagree. So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us) - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/so-i-think-the-michelin-defender-is-the-perfect-all-terrain-tire-for-most-of-us.1319040/page-19#post-15306573 If this helps, in Japan...

Thinner just a bit and a bit taller. Both of those attributes make a better performance tire.

Time to move on to GMRS

Almost certainly they could be programmed for MURS. MURS is basically the CB of 2-meter. License free. 5 channels. Only 2 watts though which is still reasonable.

    FRS ch1-7 allow 2W. Ch8-14 are limited to 0.5W.

Correct. FRS radios share some (not all) channels with GMRS. One of the benefits of FRS is the ability to have simpler, easier, (cheaper) radios to use for recce, marshalling, spotting, camp use and still be able to have local comms with a convoy's GMRS mobile radios. :)

    Australian-style Off-Road Radio Antennas (GMRS & CB & Ham)

Yeah, in some spots, LE gets a bit confused on these!

Time to move on to GMRS

RF and EM is weird, and does not necessarily always need DC-level continuity. It actually could and might well work just fine with said large magnet. Not sure how ultimately reliable and sturdy it would be. A fiberglass (non-conducting) sailboat with an HF radio can be configured to use the...
