Because a floor pan is hard.and I have to replace the ghost of a body mount too.
Scuff plates are bright and shiny and I haven't had one for longer than I've had the hole in the floorboard.
It does look pretty nice there. I wonder if it might have been better to screw the plate to the inside floor, as it was originally. Just need to invert the "Land Cruiser"...
And arrived Friday. I didn't get around tuit till today.nice that it comes with good mounting hardware and the correct drill bit. Nicely packed too.
I tore up my original DS scuff plate years ago so I really needed that one and got started on it...
Ah yes, I recall the gas tank install. I found that flat on my back, using two feet on the far side and three hands on the close side worked best for me.
My worst job is mating the tranny to the engine from underneath...
Get a vacuum gauge and get baseline measurements before and after each step you take. It’s actually quite rewarding to see numerical improvements.
Compression test
Adjust valves
Second compression test
Set timing
Lean drop carb
You're saying, then, that manifold vacuum is as good as ported vacuum for your vacuum advance distributor? I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree. I do not have the benefit of an old story with a race car driver who has "science", all I know is...

I just sent all my remaining Dualmatic hub parts to @Drake2. I would inspect them carefully before deciding to reuse them. I only ever saw one set explode, but the explosion was pretty dramatic.
It will be nice to see all those parts finally see...
when you turn the dizzy body righty-tighty, you are retarding the timing. the spot where the BB disappears is about 17* BTDC. some engines like this much advance to run right, my engine likes about 25*. you should be able to get a good idle in...
Took the passenger door of the Karma Cruiser apart to change the window runs and did the vent window weatherstrip while I was at it. Interestingly, I can't remember ever changing a vent window weatherstrip before. And after today, im not likely...
Tech Tip: Wheel without your door mirrors. Pack a box half full of packing peanuts, wrapping paper and a small ziplok bag. Put the screws in the bag and your mirrors in the box at the start of the trail, put them back on the doors for the drive home.
Used to be almost routine, especially on trails like the Rubicon, people were always busting birfs. Everybody carries a spare, and the little clips they need...
