ill try removing the locking hubs. its definetly the axle on the hub end not the diff end. i can grab it and shake it and hear the same noise it makes while driving. . it feels loose....... or worse maybe something is f'd up or loose. thanks for the help guys!

I have a 90 dx pickup and the front left and right axles are making a rattling noise when I hit rough road while driving . its not a solid axle has the cv axles with manual locking hubs. if I grab the axle where it goes into the back of the hub it has play. I haven't tore the wheel and hub off...

where are u located? im not sure but around here i see 89-95 pretty consistently priced about $2000-$4000 and 96 -2000 for $5000 - $10,000 . just watch craigslist and if u have facebook the car classified groups.
