How bout an update? What did you end up doing? I just got mine back from the muffler shop. My dual mufflers are located outside the rail right under my front seats and out between the tire and leaf springs and out behind the rear of the vehicle. I don't rock crawl so no worried about have rocks...

I'm not really into rock crawling, trails, river crossings are more my thing...

Question for all you 4 wheelers out there, I love to watch "The Story Till Now & TrailRecon" videos on YouTube. From watching those guys travel, rock crawl, trail runs etc., they and their friends all drive 4 door and long wheel base Jeeps, I never see 2 door or short wheel Jeeps hit the trails...

I got new mufflers for my 72 FJ40 sbc350! Now need to find a local shop to run the new pipes. I'm going to have them both exit behind the rear wheels. Current set-up exits right under front seats and all the exhaust seeps into the cabin, horrible! Can't wait to get these installed. It'll be as...

I spoke to the Bilstein rep today 1/29/24 and he said that in the rear, the shaft should go in the bottom position due to rocks denting the housing. In the front, orientation doesn't matter.

Installed new Bilstein front shocks on my rig. Ride seems much nicer!

I would personally recommend having the exhaust come out behind the rear wheels as much as possible. My rig has the exhaust coming out right under my front seats and the fumes are terrible! I desperately need to have the exhaust re-routed to the rear. I too have an auxiliary 22 gallon gas tank...

Do you have a link to the OEM bumper? Looks fantastic! Mine came with a home made bumper made out of heavy duty c-channel and built like a tank!

I'm rebuilding my gauge cluster to my 72 FJ40 and am looking for the vinyl stickers for the gas, amps, temp & oil level. I saw a similar thread, just can't find it. TIA

Finally got to install my Auxbeam controller to my Tuffy box console. Now to route the wire out of sight and connect everything to it. Sorry for the crappy pic, yes my phone is as good as a potato. 72 FJ40.
