Yes, the image was taken at idle. I have a 1999 and recommend removing the alternator from the top by unbolting the steering pump (not removing it, keep it connected), air box, and top vertical radiator hose. Don't wait too long; it's a simple enough job and is better than getting stranded. If...
Tossing in a Toyota-Parts Counter-sourced alternator. As a standard practice, anyone considering this job should buy the housing connector. Toyota part #: 90980-11349.
Turns to dust as soon as you look at it.
Just threw on a set of Sumitomo 33” AT tires:
After some research I ended up with a better set of tires than what I had with the Falken Wildpeaks.@ $150 each.❤️
These track better in the wet and dry…. (they look really close to my Wildpeaks and come from the same company)
800 grit wet sanded, had fish eyes on a couple attempts.
Looked like trash half way in, but kept wet sanding and adding coats until the gouges and mistakes were gone.
Key on the clear is to spray a fine light spray, let it flash off then follow up with a wet coat after 2-3 minutes.
Refurbished the scuffed up interior black plastics. Replaced the hvac control knobs.
Now I just need to replace the worn shift knob and delaminated gear indicator.
Replaced the leaky evaporator, expansion valve, ac evap tubes, filters, gasket, etc.
Used some aluminum angle to strengthen the cut dash under the glove box.
Ended up goobering some pc11 plastic weld over the plugs. No issues, put 2,000 miles on it since. I will go the route of the tundra unit if I get so much as a whiff of an evap fault code though. 🥁
