Cleaning out the garage and found a pair of soft half doors for an FJ40. They're in pretty good shape -- one small (size of a dime) semi-circular rip where the door mechanism wore part way through the driver's door, could probably be glued back together. Some miscellaneous threads have pulled...
Doggone it, I thought I had photographed every possible surface of that tub!
Seriously, it'll take me a few days to get the tub tipped up on end and photograph the bottom, but I'll let you know when the pics are on my webpage. For anyone else who may be interested, I'll also post a...
30 October 2005: Sale pending on everything....
5 November 2005: Everything has been sold. Thanks!
I've come to the conclusion that an FJ40 won't work for me, so I'm selling off all the parts I've accumulated, starting with the big stuff. Once the big stuff is gone, I'll start to wade...
Still in La Crosse, but the cruiser's near Marshfield, so it's pretty far out of your way.
Unfortunately, the long distance bus service around here only runs in 2 directions, and neither of them is the right one.
My wife suggested I ask my daughter to help me out  so hopefully her...
I'm sorta getting the impression that using a towbar may not be such a good idea....
Seriously, thanks for all the responses. It's obvious to me (now) that the towbar isn't a very good idea, so I'll keep looking for another driver to help me out.
Again, thanks for all the feedback.

I just bought a '69 FJ40 and I need to find a way to bring it home. It's about 90 miles away and it runs fine, but I can't find a buddy to make the trip with me, so towing may be my only option. Does anyone have any experience with one of those towbars that U-Haul rents? Would I do any damage...
I have a '77 FJ40 with 4.11s, but I don't know if they would be interchangeable with 3.73s out of an FJ60 -- do you? Also, where are you located (don't want to spend a lot on shipping)? I'm in Wisconsin at zip 54601.
The more I think about it, the more I think that the shipping costs are going to be more than I want to spend, so I guess I'd better look a little closer to home. Thanks for the offer, though.

Landpimp is correct. I checked my favorite source for LC specs, and it translated my "K 08 2" axle code on my build plate as a 4.111 gear ratio. For anyone who can use these specs, you can find them at http://rustybrain.com/cruisers/faq.txt -- a lot of good info at this site.
Thanks.

I'm interested in the 3.73s for my '77 FJ40, but I don't know a couple of things:
- What does a stock '77 have, 4.11s?
- If so, would the 3.73s be a straight swap?
Also, any idea on the shipping weight? I'm in Wisconsin (54601), so spending a lot on shipping probably doesn't make much sense.
