Installing turbo and should finish tomorrow. If the check valves to be replaced under the intake are to prevent turbo pressure from blowing into the gas tank and pressurizing it, AND my charcoal canister is off-line now (plugged the line from the...

Appears I have the orig fan clutch - see pic (not blue). No adjusting screws. Can I drain existing fluid and replace with the 30k I purchased? Joey’s turbo going in this week.

Compression from 1-6 120 140 125 140 135 40 I’m not sure #6 is accurate but suffice to say they are all low. I can’t get short blocks right now. Going to put reworked head back in once I get it back Friday. Then turbo goes on. I understand...

Nine of the above really. I’m putting at turbo on it (thanks Joey) and it compression was too low.

Thanks. Here are pics of head and block. I don’t know how to read the signs here. Does anyone see anything problematic? This is original head gasket with 349k miles.

Have the head loose and will pull off tomorrow with lower intake still on it. I got aggravated trying to get the harness off so I considered leaving intake in vehicle but then got aggravated trying to get rear intake bolts/stud out. So, I went...

MattMud posted the thread Head Job Hose Kit in 80-Series Tech.
Got most of the work done on removing the head on my 97 Cruiser today. I know several have gasket kits (head, manifolds, cover, O rings on water outlets, etc). But, does someone have a hose kit that covers all the hoses touched/involved in remove...

All stable and oil leak fixed! Very satisfying. Thanks for all the help!! One final question: what is the pipe thing that the O ring seals?

Thanks everyone. I’ll take it slow and check frequently until it stabilizes.

Got it all back in and ready to test drive. Checked the trans fluid level (I did drain most of it) and it shows well above the hot marks. Weird. When the car isn’t running, does the fluid all drain back into the pan? Or, said differently, is the...

Got rms and O ring out. I ring was cracked, totally plasticized/brittle, and flattened. While not the source of all the leaked oil, it was the largest source. I’d be surprised if any significant oil was getting by rms. Question: I don’t see any...

So, some guys remove the two centering pins from the block where the rms plate attaches. That enables mashing down on the sealant instead of “scraping” it into the block when pushing the plate back on. I can’t seem to get them out. Anybody know...

Thanks Malleus. I don’t recall where I heard that term applied to the movement of the TC. I’ll drop the term from my vocab in relation to transmissions and such. Trying to get the flex plate and rms housing plate/panel off this morning before I...

And, can someone explain why the “green” bolt (mines more black) should go in first when reassembling the flex plate to the torque converter?

MattMud replied to the thread Pulling Trans/transfer questions.
Thank you. From what Inhave read and watched, that placement of the torque converter is called the run out. For kicks, can someone explain why it’s called run out? Is it because the torque converter has a tendency to “run out” of its housing in...

Got the trans/transfer out today. Need to jack up back of car to get more clearance to roll it back more to access rms better. I drained majority of trans fluid before dropping trans/transfer. Question: when I dropped it there was a decent bit...

2001LC - you mention above that tensioner pulley on T-belt is usually main cause of oil coming out weep hole. But I’m talking rear of engine week hole at base of bell housing. Are we talking two different weep holes? See my post from yesterday...

I finally got time to pressure wash the underside and top (valve covers and inside V under intake). Car was running while I did topside. When done, I crawled under and wiped water away from bottom of bell housing. Watched for oil. No oil...

Thank you. I’ll follow that protocol and report back. As far as cleaning, can i spray engine with engine degreaser and pressure wash it all off?

Status: I did a few things to bulldog where this oil is coming from based on the recommendations above and the linked threads. I pulled the PCV valve and it shakes freely. So, no pressure pushing oil out through weak seals. I pulled the little...

Thanks. I’m not pulling engine. I’ll slide back on trans jack and swap rms and O ring. But, per the other responses and linked threads above, i’ll pull the inspection plate to make sure its wet inside AND theck the PCV valve before pulling it apart.
