For Sale  Houston: 91-92 FJ80 OEM 15" wheels

Selling a full set of five 15" wheels from my 1991 FJ80. They no longer fit since I switched to big rear discs. Classic 15" diameter with a 6x139 bolt pattern. Tires are already removed. These are the "square" wheels that look awesome on minitrucks and older cruisers, although your taste may...

For Sale  TX: OEM 91-92 Alloy 15x7 6-bolt wheels

I got a set of FJ cruiser steelies for my axle upgrade and don't need the smaller 15s since they don't fit over the big brakes. I'm hoping to part with the whole set, 5 total. Just started cleaning them up today, will post pictures of all 5 if desired...

1991 FJ80 3FE not starting (or clicking, or cranking)

Back story: Replaced starter with OE a year or so ago, before then had the click-but-no-start problem with the solenoid. Had to whack the thing with a hammer to start it, but have been Toyota reliable since replacing the starter. When I replaced the starter I put a huge fat battery cable in...

    Transmission issues?

I love ih8mud You guys are always right: the lower caliper bolt was loose and it was dragging on the inside of the passenger rim. Here's the sweet mark it made. The lurching and metal snapping sound was the dragging caliper catching on the aluminum "mounds" the dragging made on the inside of...

    Transmission issues?

Yeah CJF, I miscommunicated. Was just scared to roll it forward in drive. When the tcase is in neutral the truck rolls fine without any binding whatsoever, i was just wondering about what physically causes the brakes to drag only in drive; pure curiosity. Today ran away without me, but tomorrow...

    Transmission issues?

Why would the brakes only bind when the vehicle is in drive? I'm not the world's greatest mechanic, obviously, but I especially don't have a firm grasp on the inner workings of 4x4 vehicles. I have to work up the guts to do a drive/listen thing. The sound is like metal breaking free, and it...

    Transmission issues?

Thanks for the suggestions. CDL not engaged. Does the same thing in 4H and 4L. I really wish it was hopping and popping form using it wrong, sadly this is straight-line in the driveway. I looked at the u-joints and driveline, everything looks normal. Anything beyond "normal" I should...

    Transmission issues?

I drove the cruiser 80 miles RT this week on Tuesday, no issues at all. Yesterday the :princess: is driving it to work and says the front brakes are grinding again. On the drive back from work, the cruiser starts "hopping" and acts like brakes are locked up. She pulls over, calls a tow, and...

Dash Lights Stay On When LX Is Off and Rear Defrost Is Left On

My 91 LC does the same thing, I suspect the ignition switch since I get an occasional click of death from the starter too, despite a rebuild and complete regrounding. I don't use defrost here in Houston, so not in a rush to try a fix. Subscribed.

battery dead - take out of PARK

To the original question: is it normal for my '91 to have a button instead of a slot which overrides the ignition switch and lets you move the auto gear selector, or is that because of the transmission difference.
