When the tank cools off it sucks air in through one of the lines and it bubbles up through the gas in the tank. It's meant to do that to relieve the vacuum as the gas cools off.

Could be he means pitman seal, the seal on the pitman shaft. My '84 leaked from the steering gear input shaft seal until I used PS stopleak.

I traced my steering clunk to the slip joint between the two u-joints in the engine compartment. It's the shaft between the u-joints and is like a spline but square as I remember. Probably some grease would fix it but it looked like a lot of work to take it apart and I never bothered. Karl

The brushes in the alternator also wear out, and then it won't charge. Brushes are cheap, <$10 at a good auto parts store. Putting them in is a bit of work, you need a soldering iron. But it costs a lot less than an alternator. I always carry a spare set. Karl
