Thanks for the offer RTB falcon. I'm going to take 2fPower's suggestion of inspecting the muffler. I'd be really embarrassed if I had you drive over only to find it was a very simple fix. I reserve the right to hit you up if that does not fix it :)
I really like my Land Cruiser but there are a few things that really drive me nuts. One is a rattle that comes from the undercarriage in the back when I go over bumps. With the windows rolled up I can hardly hear it but when down it is very noticeable. At first I thought is might be that the...
Hoedodger, still not sure I'm going to sell but made the mistake of looking at something in the 08-09 range :) I would like to get into the mid $14's but not sure how realistic that is. May just put it out there and see what get. No harm in that huh?
Posted this on the IH8mud general forum but would really like to get some input from Kansas locals.
So I've only had my Land Cruiser for a few months I'm looking to do something different. I'm having a hard time finding anything close to it within 500 miles of Kansas City to even compare it...
2000 Land Cruiser - what's it worth
So I've only had my Land Cruiser for a few months I'm looking to do something different. I'm having a hard time finding anything close to it within 500 miles of Kansas City to even compare it to. Below is what I was able to pull from KBB and NADA and the...
Wow, reading the first paragraph of your post was like a bad night mare for me. I had a speed sensor go out about a month ago and so far the replacement is working with no problem (knock on wood). I actually took it to a transmission shop first because by that "grinding gravel" sound I could...
There is some do it yourself stuff out there but am not sure how well it works. I had the same problem a few years back on a Volvo XC90. The Volvo dealer where I had it serviced had a special for headlight restoration that ran me about $80 (for both). They looked good as new when they were done...
Oil pressure
I had the same concern when I first purchased a few months back. It would go from around 1/4 pressure at a stop to just over 1/2 way when I accelerated. Made me very nervous but posted this same concern and had an overwhelming replies from folks stating that it was completely normal.
Sway bar bolt break.
Had a bolt on my sway bar shear off as well. All stock 2000 LC with 100k miles that has not been off roaded to my knowledge. Got home from a weekend trip to the in-laws and heard this awful clunking as I turned and went over bumps which was the metal on metal noise.
So much for making assumptions. Ends up that it had nothing to do with power-train (whew) but actually the ABS system. The front right speed sensor is broke which was causing the ABS system to engage. It's going to run about $750 at a local mechanic to take a part the wheel, replace the sensor...
quick stop/start - grinding **resolved**
Just starting today I experience a "grinding" in the drive-train if I come to a stop and then start again quickly. The car lurches forward but is sounds as if the drive train is just partially engaged. Back off the gas for a second and then press down...
After a very thorough system check including pressurized tests for radiator and a/c they were unable to find any sort of leak of fluid anywhere. Best guess is that I might have drove through something just before pulling off the highway. While it sucks to be out the $100 I'm glad that I didn't...
