I asked the same question until I was involved in a recovery and watched a steel cable snap and cut through 2 saplings at knee height. Ordered synthetic winch line as soon as I got home. BTW, these guys are sponsors for the Crazy Cruiser...

You still have an air leak. The top end of the motor wants to be air tight.

@crz2crz Have you checked the underside of the intake tube for cracks which would allow unmetered air into the engine. Have you been messing with connector on the AFM?

Warn M12K. Been using the same one since 1999. On my second solenoid pack and on my 5th cable (synthetic).

I would expect this if your transfer case was in high range. It would climb or spin tires in low range. That's what low range is for.

Good news, managed to clear all codes except 21/28 (waiting on O2 sensors). Took off the ISC and found the coolant pipe to be clogged, fixed that, and bench tested the ISC per the FSM for continuity - passed at 28 ohms. Near the top of the 10 -...

47750-60070-84 is a reman left rear caliper. They used to be stupid cheap. Alternative would be to look in the part out section of the classifieds. Any rear disc brake 80 Series 93-97 will work. You will have no brake pressure without that...

@alicnorr8 The fuel pumps on all US Spec 80 Series years are inside the fuel tank and have a filter sock attached. All models in the US are fuel injected but the tank setup should be similar for a carburetor application. Good news the top of...

Several things jump out at me from the statements you made. The "golden screw" is NOT the idle speed adjustment on the 3FE. While it will have an immediate affect on idle speed, it will only be temporary. Idle speed is controlled by the ECU...

Don't scare the kid. His 92 will have the 3FE motor so no PHH. Good thing to change all rubber hoses unless you have repair history showing them done in the last few years.

That looks like the cable is disconnected at the transmission end. There's no way it should be that loose.

jonheld replied to the thread A440f Solenoid Mystery.
The only solenoid in the A440F (91/92 FJ80) is for cruise control unlocking of the torque converter in certain conditions. In reality it does nothing of any consequence and will not effect shifting as it is 100% hydraulic. The setting of the...

@bencho Only the 93 -94 US spec has the A442F which is electronically controlled using solenoids. The 91 -92 models use the A440 which is hydraulicaly controlled, no solenoids.

Black exhaust smoke is usually unburnt fuel. Since this happens when the engine is under load, I would suggest looking for wiring issues. With the motor under load, it will shift on the mounts possibly grounding out a set of injectors (the 3FE...

Look for cracks/tears in the intake tube especially in the underside of the bellows section.

This right here. You're driving a 30 year old vehicle. Try to remember that.

You are all spoiled by modern vehicles. Back in 1994, this was state of the art, and plenty fast. I'm plenty happy with how mine work and they're completely stock.

Runs are a big part of it, though if your regulator and motor are worn out, they make their own contribution. I'm also sure he's right about low voltage getting to the motors - 30 years of corrosion makes a difference. That said, for $300, I can...

Clean out the 30 year old grease and lube the motor and rotating assembly. Works wonders.

I’ve actually reached out and been in contact with them. They are going to help me square it away. I also talked to my local 4x4 shop. He recommends the Napa alternator. Lifetime warranty, and good quality vs other parts stores.
