Hey y'all
A friend left me this engine as a "gift" for helping him clean out his storage locker. I'm not even entirely sure what it is - it looks like it could be the straight four out of an older mini truck (stout?) but I'm way out of my element here.
Does anyone recognize this one? I'm not...
Hey y'all.
Planning some possible axle work on a JDM Hilux camper which is sitting under a tarp, waiting for me to get my sh*t together.
I'm curious if anyone knows - how much DNA do these share with the solid front axle pickups and 4runners? Here's a nice tidy high res picture from an...
@Squandro I was going to demand a picture, haha. That looks like the one that was at Ottoex, but that one was a '93. Nice score.
Mine is actually unfinished and tarped, it didn't make it through the California DMV.
I got a Ford Sterling ready to put under it but never quite got the brakes...
Zero miles on most of the parts. Whole package - includes brakes, new pads, brand new bearings everywhere. Brackets ready to set this up and weld it for your whatever. This was originally for a super wide rear axle on a Toyota RV project, but that one's not going to pan out. I know that the lack...
TL;DR - what's the angle offset between the top of the spring perches and the CL of the pinion shaft on a stock 8" rear in a '94 truck? I swear I searched first, but couldn't find the number...
Hey all
So, following up on my last thread about this project... I looked around and settled on a...
Ah, I think I wasn't clear enough about an important detail. It's a stock rear axle, with some whackadoodle spacer adapters that convert it from 6 lug to a wide 5 lug dually rim and space it out so that the inside wheel is inline with the front (maybe Fuso rims? Maybe something brewed up...
@GLTHFJ60 you’re not wrong. Looks like lots of 4.30 options in Sterling 10.5, factory Dana, AAM11.5 etc and then going to a machine shop for the conversion to 6 lug. Pretty good is much cheaper than perfect I bet...
Thank you for the wisdom!
:geek: :steer:
The truck cab is near-mint, which is awesome. The RV interior is showing its age but still in pretty good shape. Working though some stuff with the plumbing right now.
Sorry for my slow response here, got distracted... but yeah - I think it's 70 WMS to WMS... the outside edge of the rim to the outside edge of the rim is 79", inside edge of the wheel well to inside edge of the wheel well is 80". The current wheels that are on there tuck just inside the wheel...
I mean, they do call it hard-ware
That almost does it, except that then I’d have 8 lug rear and 6 lug front, and the 6 lug ff kits I found are for the older corporate not the AAM. Also, there’s no 4.30 gears for 14-bolts.
I have a coworker who's a big fan of the Ford 9", so I was looking at 9" floaters overnight. But then I realized - either the D60 or the Ford 9" would have SAE hardware... small detail but there's a big plus in favor of the FROR setup. No mix n' match on this truck!
