Reputable Body Shops in Orlando Area

Today the insurance adjuster finally made it over to prepare a repair estimate of the damage on my truck - big thanks to @cruisermatt for facilitating this. I was hoping to agree a settlement fee so that I could source the parts and repair the truck myself but the insurance company appear...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Thanks for the feedback and insight to the insurance company shenanigans. I have receipts for everything which add up to the $15-$20k range. The truck was completely refreshed over the past 2 years. Engine, suspension, steering, fuel and interior have all been restored with mostly OEM parts...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Not the best start to the day. Daughter was parked up at high school when Florida Man drove into her. No idea what speed the idiot was doing but thankfully my daughter is OK but a little shaken up. Driver side fender and door is also damaged. I was able to drive it back home and it...

    Need Help with Motor Swap

I am more interested in the why rather the how. There are no shortage of solutions that will give you more power but my question is why do you think you need it. I ran a '94 for years with front and rear bumpers, sliders and a roof rack and probably only bitched about lack of power half a dozen...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I can't recall how much it takes as I just pour the oil onto a modified garden spayer which makes filling the diffs much quicker. I have used the Supertech gear oil from wally world for years. I don't see the point in over paying for oil when i change it regularly.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I change the oil in the diffs when the clocks go forward. Any moisture, dirt etc. Picked up over the winter months is more or less gone in time for a summer of driving. Cost is less than a bar bill so makes sense to me.

What is the best option; rebuild or replace rear diff?

I took the easy route as per the trusted gurus on the forum and just retightened the nut to the same point where it was staked originally. I know when i go back to swap the brearings out i will need to use a new crush sleeve and do some accurate pre load set up.

What is the best option; rebuild or replace rear diff?

I also have this job on my todo list. The front pinion seal on my rear diff was leaking bad due to some dreadful corrosion. I just replaced the seal, cover and the flange which stopped the leak. I thought it was all good until i swapped out the old MT tires for some new BFG A/Ts. The huge...

    Meet "Pearl" - I've joined the 80s Club!! - 1997 FJZ80

I did the same trick with welding on some washers. In my defense, it was my early days of learning how to weld but it looked like a bird had been trapped under the hood s***ing out welds. I ended up buying new shields and hardware 🙄

No wheel spin when bound up

Was the CDL locked when you tried this? Possible cause would be worn drive flanges on the front wheels. You could have a buddy confirm this by popping the caps off the axles and looking to see if the axles are spinning.

HDJ81 RHD Driver Door Lock – What Controls the “Lift Handle to Lock” Function?

Definitely not just a Toyota quirk. Every car we owned when i grew up in Ireland had the same locking principle. I always assumed the idea was not to accidentally lock the keys in the car. Anyway, when i had an aftermarket remote locking unit fitted to my '94 I had the same issue. I vaguely...

Another 4x4 labs bumper, this time with quarter panel and exhaust repair!

Great job. I did a similar repair on mine but had to start just below the marker light. At the time I didn't have a second LC to use as a template so just freehanded everything. The shape on both side are different but close enough. At least I now have solid steel in those areas and not the...
