I cut down a pair of these type of semi truck mud flap hangers to work on my FJ40. They are easy to remove if needed. The mounting part just bolts to the frame inside the rear fenders. Easy project that has worked well for many years.
So by chance, I picked up two large old-school Con-Ferr racks a few weeks back. One went on Pikachu, and the other needed a little more work and is going on this 40. Here's what it looked like when I picked it up.
Obviously it needed some paint...
@Guyute That looks amazing! Looked into the Sculpt Nouvo a while back. I just got my hands on a HUGE 8” Ridgid (Columbian casting) and thought I might try a “poor man’s version” of that process. Basically just oiled up and heated it a bit...
This will be the build thread/documentation (not sure how I get the “Builds” tag) for my new-to-me 1976 FJ40 named Otis. The truck was named by the previous to the previous owner, and it fits so the name happily will stay. I bought Otis from...
I overlooked this place. Did the loop in cades cove when my nephew visited a few weeks ago. No top + windshield down. Saw some bear cubs playing and tons of deer.
Take the 14mm cap off that sits above the fuel inlet. From there, You can tap on the float needle with a paper clip to make sure gas is getting into the carb.
If the truck will run on the starter fluid, and fuel is getting into the bowl, then...
I know it’s been said before, but these things really do like being driven.
I’ve taken it out more this past month than I think all of last summer.
The carb is mostly cooperating-it’s only died a few times but hasn’t had the high idle thing...
Alright. Definitely the six. I think it was in NM, then Boulder and now here in Kansas. Some rust on the passenger side, but for the most part it looks pretty good. I’ll add some photos and I can take more if there are questions about things to...
I have always wanted an FJ40 after growing up in the 60's in Florida. Our neighbor down the block was a flagger for the Daytona raceway and had an FJ40 and a Cobra in his driveway. I was hooked. The FJ's are a little more affordable, so I chose...
Got the tires balanced yesterday. The wobble at 50mph is almost all gone. So much smoother driving on the highway. Mechanic said the shocks should be replaced so that's next on the agenda
