BJ73 from Holland 24v Alternator & Oil Pump?!

Amazing duh! Unbelievable though it may seem, it SEEMS the lump sum of the problem was bad contacts between the cables and the terminals. To make it worse, there was some wire that some so-called Electrician put on there, and since I couldn't find a use for it, I disconnected it. Now it all...

BJ73 from Holland 24v Alternator & Oil Pump?!

And the Preheater? While we're at it, the Prechauder starts up when I hit a bump. Seems that unit may have a bad relay in in, needing replacement... but that small detail was happening before, too. Any experience on that little 12-volt box in my 24 volt system? I love the truck, but the way...

BJ73 from Holland 24v Alternator & Oil Pump?!

Well, here is the follow-up: After changing the offending battery, it seemed to work fine. Then I took it to a car-wash and paid an obscene price to have it detailed, as I want to sell the beast before I fly out on the evening of May 8th. Since, it will NOT start without a jump. (Before, it...

BJ73 from Holland 24v Alternator & Oil Pump?!

Hello, folks. Elsie the Beast has done it again... not starting with two new maint. free batteries about dead. The belt was squeeling, but I didn't think that would be enough, in and of itself, for the battery to be flat out dead. As I inspect the alternator, I see that it has an oil pump...

    BJ73V Turbo, Leaf Springs?

Ron, Got the emails, STILL can't log on to the account... I am about to give you a FTP account on one of my sites. :) Maybe the issue is that I am on internet cafe machines... MANY thanks for the attempts to assist!

    Another (stupid newbie) leafspring question

Success at last Finally got a break with the Landcruiser leafsprings! The wrong part was exchanged and replaced by the mechanic (the father, this time,) and the Landcruiser now behaves like a proper 4x4 vehicle, instead of a bouncing can that sends ya through the roof of the car each time ya...

    Another (stupid newbie) leafspring question

Drama I took it back to the mechanic this morning. He agreed that the shackles should have been down instead of up, and that they should not have WELDED the first couple plates together. I think the leafsprings have an OEM number on them of 48110-60250 ... a search yielded a chinese company...

    Another (stupid newbie) leafspring question

In the blow picture (found on here, not my BJ73,) the leaf springs are kinda hanging down off of the connecting device (shackle?). As they just installed mine, it is more like the piece is straight out to the rear, rather than hanging down some. The leaf spring is the same length as the...

    BJ73V Turbo, Leaf Springs?

Stiff and riding high Well, the gods were with me. Though it was supposedly not possible, when we went to get the used leafsprings today, I was offered a new pair for about 75 USD more. SO, it now has Japanese shocks and god-knows-who-made-these leaf springs on both sides of the rears...

    BJ73V Turbo, Leaf Springs?

Just when I thought it couldn't get much worse... ... with the leaf springs... Took it to a mechanic today, as he had CLAIMED he worked on Sundays. There is a big huge international Islamic convention here in Dakar beginning this week. Lots of heads of state, soldiers, motorcades, etc...

    Oil pressue sender question 3B

Hey, Ron and Eric! I did try that link, but it doesn't work for me, comes up 404. Ron, if you have it downloaded, can ya send a copy to my email? I am sure a manual would be a huge help... all the more so if it were in english. My french is barely tolerable, and when it comes to technical...

    Oil pressue sender question 3B

Could ya put a pic up of the sending units? I need to reconnect the oil, tach, speedo... and I hope one of those has to do with the two-conductor plug on the transmission that isn't attached to anything now... A downloadable manual would really help... Thanks, guys!

    BJ73V Turbo, Leaf Springs?

Ron, Yeah, there are some down here like that, I suppose. But the biggest reason they are in poor shape is that ALL cars here are in horrible condition if they are more than a year or two old. Roads are hell, everyone has dents all over their vehicles in no time, and there is no such thing...

    BJ73V Turbo, Leaf Springs?

Roscoe, No clue what their chart's info used as its standard, what the specs refer to. They DID say that it would lift it about 2 inches in the process, and perhaps as much as 70 mm overall, including some sag in the current system. I couldn't possibly care less if it lifts it a little...

    BJ73V Turbo, Leaf Springs?

Ron, So everything is connecting to the Plus terminal on Battery Two for its Hot end, and the frame for Negative/ground? I am a LITTLE confused by the statement that nothing should be connected to the terminals. Connect to a distribution panel, per se, like the fusebox, instead? The...
