    Bolt identification help

OK, took it back to the mechanic and they found that it was an AC bolt that must not have been tightened while finishing up the timing belt job.

    Bolt identification help

OP, I also had my timing belt changed a few months back and today, I found what appears to be the same bolt behind my skidplate. Does yours have a number 8 on it? did Did you figure out where the bolt came from?

    Hdj100 maintenance

I am importing a 1998 HDJ101 with 60k miles from Japan. I am planning the usual maintenance stuff like oil and air filters. However, what parts do you recommend replacing … timing belt, hoses, brakes? What replacement parts would you order and carry around for long trips?

I'm an idiot....that wasn't the oil drain plug

I think I just did the same thing on my 06 LX470. Just so I can confirm that I am also an idiot, is this the transmission fluid drain plug?

    FJ62 starter diagnosis

I decided to compare the new and old starter only to find that the new one is slightly different in size, which would explain why the starter did not engage the flywheel. For kicks, I decided to put the old starter back on and viola! It worked. I can't really figure out why it didn't work the...

    FJ62 starter diagnosis

So the cruiser sat for a couple of days and out of no where I try to crank it again. To my surprise, the starter made a spinning sound. But it did not sound like the gears caught anything. I tried 2 more times and then no more sound, not even a click. Battery is still good but I am still...

    FJ62 starter diagnosis

I am at wits end. I changed out the signal connector...no luck. I was still getting the same "duc" sound. I then replaced all the contacts with parts from a dealer...no luck there either. Finally I picked up a remanufactured unit, and still no luck. Although, with the new unit, I get a...

    FJ62 starter diagnosis

Thanks Wile , Juggernaught, I check the wires and found no rusted connections. What I did notice was on the signal connection seems pretty rotted out. What is the purpose of this signal connection and could this be the culprit? As always, thanks.

    FJ62 starter diagnosis

Hi all, I was wondering how to diagnose if the starter for my 1990 fj62 needed to be replaced or rebuilt. Since I've purchased her about 6 months ago, I have always experienced growling starts (if that makes sense). I would usually let her struggle a bit and then back off on the ignition and...

Hard braking causing bj42 to swerve left

Brakes look good. Was told by a local mechanic that the angle of the steering joint to the wheel could be causing the swerve. Any thoughts?

Hard braking causing bj42 to swerve left

Hello all, Though I've driven a CJ7 in college, I am fairly new to landcruisers. So when I got recently got my 83 bj42 lx, I was pretty stoked to get reacquainted with the bumpy and clunky yet satisfying ride. So the other day, I'm cruising down the 71 expressway at 50 mph only to be...

    California registration concern

Thanks Tony, I was able to contact Georg who shared his insight on the matter. In his experience, it should not be a problem with CA registration as long as it is already registered and title. Thanks George! And after many attempts I was also able to confirm the same with the CA DMV...
