Late model wiper motor in early model

That was it! I wasn't getting a good ground. I ran a ground wire from the wiper motor mounting screw to a good ground source behind the dash. Thanks so much!!

Late model wiper motor in early model

Can I do that? My switch doesn't have the pigtail coming off it. The 74 harness plugs right in to the back of the switch. I looked at a later model switch and the wiring is different (more wires than my harness plug has).

Late model wiper motor in early model

Thanks for the response. I believe it's a 77 motor. P/n on the gear cover plate is 85110-90303.

Late model wiper motor in early model

Got the wipers to work properly on low and high by switching the LW & LB at the motor (thanks Coolerman). The wipers still don't auto park.

Late model wiper motor in early model

I'm installing a later model wiper motor in my 74 FJ40. I can only get the wipers to work on the second position and they don't park. Is there something that needs to be done to the wiring to make these items jive? TIA

76 FJ55 one brake light not working

Thanks for the reply. I had to add ground wires to my front turn signals as well. I did the same to the right rear, but it didn't help. I have (had) no brake light power to the light, only tail light and turn signal. I ended up tracing it down to a bad turn signal switch. I put a spare one in...

76 FJ55 one brake light not working

Trying to get all the lights in working order and I can't figure out why only one brake light works. I changed the bulbs. Both rear taillights and turn signals work, but only the left brake lights work. I have a wiring diagram, but can't figure it out. Thanks for any assistance.

11/71 Turn signal and light issues

1034 & 1157 did the same thing, so I just switched the wires and everything works like it should. I do have a short in the hazard switch. Was testing the turn signals and they didn't work. I jiggled the hazard switch knob and they came on. Looks like it's time to take it apart and clean it...

11/71 Turn signal and light issues

I may have tried the wrong bulbs in the front. I used 1157's (the only thing I had). When I turned one, 180 degrees, it started to flash. Obviously it wouldn't fit that way. I'm going to get the correct 1034's. I'll post up afterwards.

11/71 Turn signal and light issues

Found the problem! Started checking the bulbs (as per Living in the Past suggested....thank you!) PO install single filament (amber) bulbs in the front turn signals, which caused both terminals to short. Changed bulbs to double filament bulbs and lights work (w/o t/s indicators being on) and...

11/71 Turn signal and light issues

Yes, hazard switch was off. Mine is also a 9 pin. With the parking lights off, key on, left turn signal on, everything (both dash indicators, dash lights, F&R marker lights, F&R turn signal lights and license plate light) flashes. And the same with the right signal on. The only thing that is...
