hey guys..its been a month since i last posted.. I found a TC from a 95 sitting in WI for 320 shipped.. and had it replaced from Crown Valley Transmission for 340..(Irvine Toyota quoted 750) and no more squealing/whining .. all good now.. thanks for the info from all on here..I could have gone...

Toyota quoted me at $1700 to replace the VC.. I bought a TC with ~140k miles of a post 1/95 production model for $300 shipped. Does anybody know of a close by place around orange county cali to replace the TC.. I can even replace the VC from the other one i got if someone is willing to help..I...

So it seems like replacing the VC is going to be labor intensive.. so i'm looking for a transfer case now.

Yes Spike.. just like you said .. sounds bound up.. I pulled the switch on top of the T-Case and will clean and install it back and see if that makes a difference. I read on here about testing the switch with a 9v battery as well.. I saw this nice write up which I want to do but am short of...

JS..I'm gonna PM you for the VC.. thanks man.. Spike.. I did the steps you asked.. Put the trans in Park and T-Case in N and tried to roll the tires.. The front one didn't budge at all... the rear one moved/rolled 3 inches side to side.. which was probably because trans was in Park right...

Texasjack/JS..thanks for suggestions.. I had diff locks in my 94...not this one.. I put it in L to H about 10 times..reversed..went forward..2nd to last time even heard the click when you can hear it unlock..still when I turn it more than half steering left or right..i can hear the front tires...

Yes ... Wrench guessed it right.. hit a parked semi on the freeway at around 70.. no lights on.. no hazards.. i was the only one in it and managed to get out of it with bruises and scratches.. I'm in Orange county, Cali.. I have a OME 2.5" medium load suspension.. and 285/75/16 Terra Grapplers...
